As the Leagues begin and the League Cup's start to take shape, here are the results. Good luck to everyone in action today in the Greater Glasgow PAFL.
Presidents League Cup 8 Westerlands 'A' - 3 Westerlands G.G. - 1 2 out of 2 for Westerlands 'A'. They beat Westerlands G.G. at home in the Presidents League Cup. They make it two wins to start their season, sending them to the top of Section 8. The Tuesday night was not as successful for Westerlands G.G. as they lost their second game of the season, but performed much better in this match. Division 2 North Kelvin Sports - 0 Rannoch AFC - 5 Division 2 begins with two matches and the result of the two matches sees Rannoch go to the top of the league. They crushed North Kelvin Sports 5-0 away from home. Another tough day for North Kelvin Sports, as they conceded 11 goals from their first two games, both of them at home. Third Lanark - 3 Ashvale Victoria - 1
A really scrappy game down at Fullarton Park tonight Third Lanark done well to win.
The match started with Steven Watson scoring his first of the season when the ball landed at his feet from a corner. Third Lanark report the excitement was too much for David Ampleford who nearly re-snapped his heel in joy. Third Lanark continued to fight on to earn the second goal and try and put this game out of sight, and Jojo Lang did just that. His effort looked as though it was saved, but it was not and Third Lanark took the lead 2-0, and this saw Jojo Lang's first competitive goal of the season. Then Jonny Scott scored his second goal of the season to make it 3-0, after he linked up well with Jojo Lang once again. This put the game out of reach for Ashvale Victoria, but they did not lay down, they kept fighting and we rewarded with a penalty that they converted to make it 3-1, but it may have been to little to late for Ashvale, as Third Lanark won this one 3-1. For Third Lanark, Duncan McIntyre, Daniel O'Brien and Colin Galbraith keeping it strong at the back and David Scott making some key saves. The man of the match was announced as Colin Galbraith in his second game for Third Lanark, a new signing who keeps continuing to be solid at the back for Thrid Lanark and looks like he is fitting into his new club very well with two great performances. Presidents League Cup Section 3 Colquhoun United - 2 Westcliffe - 9 An amazing victory for Westcliffe. Not many people coming away from a game having scored 9 goals. They were out for revenge from last week as they fell short to Newshot in Division 3 action, but they proved that they are here for business this year. Their season has gotten off to a great start and they will look to move forward with this win fresh in their minds. Another tough game for Colquhoun United, who have no game this Saturday, this will give them time to reset, and restart and check out their opposition on the 30th August, Helensburgh. Helensburgh - 5 St. Patrick's FP - 4 An awesome game, a nice 9 goal thriller ending 5-4. It was a slightly better night for Helensburgh who ran out the victors in this one. St. Patrick's FP were unlucky to fall short in this one, but they have nothing to be ashamed of. This game is a great advert for the Greater Glasgow League. Presidents League Cup Section 4 Crookston Castle - 4 St Thomas - 0 A good start to the season for Crookston Castle, they beat St Thomas 4-0 after a draw in the first game of the Greater Glasgow Football league. They earned a clinical victory over St Thomas at home. A good win in Section 4 for the 4 nil winners Crookston Castle. Eastwood Parkmount ‘B’ - 2 Calderglen - 5 Eastwood Parkmount went 2 nil up in the first 10 minutes, a dream start for them as Adam Van Den Brink and Ciaran McFadden scored the goals. Calderglen pulled one back 35 minutes in as the striker beat the offside trap and slotted home. Half Time: Eastwood Parkmount ‘B’ 2-1 Calderglen As the second half begins Calderglen apply a lot of pressure and pinned them back and then they drew it level when they converted a penalty to make it 2-2. They had another penalty, but this meant a super save from the keeper Peter McMullen. Unfortunately this did not turn the game, Calderglen continue to pile on the pressure and they ran out eventual winners 5-2. Well played to both sides, sounded like a good game to watch, with early goals, lots of pressure and a good penalty save, which is always exciting. Presidents League Cup Section 6 John Street - 3 Busby - 3 A good result for the neutral, not often you see a 3 all draw, and it is exciting when it does. A fair result for John Street and Busby. Presidents League Cup Section 8 Dynamo East Kilbride - 3 Cambria - 1 A better result for Dynamo East Kilbride as they came back and won their match 3-1 against high flyers Cambria, a team who earned a 8-0 victory last week over Westerlands G.G. The results turns the group on its head. This group in the balance and a good win for Dynamo East Kilbride. But the 8-0 victory in this group still registers as the best. Presidents League Cup Section 5 Jordanhill - 1 Newshot - 2 A good game in the Presidents League Cup as Newshot run out the victors against Jordanhill, as their boss held his hands up on twitter after the game and said that Newshot were better on the day. A game that looked as though it was played in good spirit, as Newshot ran out 2-1 winners in a very important game for Section 5. Unfortunately, Jordanhill's game has been called off due to the pitch being wet on Saturday 26th August, but Newshot look to continue their form against Bellaire away from home in the Presidents League Cup. Presidents League Cup Section 6 East Kilbride Y.M. - 2 Newton Vale - 2
A fair result for two very good sides as they battled hard on Thursay night, ending in a dead heat. A good game from two good sides as they would of played this one in good spirit, but the rain was hammering down throughout. This makes Newton Vale's match today a must win game at home to John Street, but the Division 1 reigning champions should be the favorites to win this one at their home ground. East Kilbride YM travel to Busby on Saturday with both games in this group ending in a draw. This sets up a huge Saturday of games.
