DIVISION 1

Eastwood Parkmount ‘A’ - 2

Cambria - 3

Cambria turned up to top of the table Eastwood Parkmount ‘A’ with 9 players out injured and backs against the wall. Cambria had to have their goal keeper playing in defense, but they managed to pick up a brilliant win in division 1. The goals came from Stephen Lynch, Kevin MacDonald and Neil Youngman. An aberration in a brilliant start to the season for Eastwood Parkmount ‘A’. Eastwood Parkmount remain top of the table, but a good win for Cambria sees them climb the table. The league is starting to take shape now and is getting very exciting. Plenty of division 1 action next weekend. Cambria are at home next weekend to Westerlands ‘A’ and will hope that they can continue the run. Eastwood Parkmount ‘A’ have a break from league action but they travel to Rannoch Colts in Section 7 of the President’s League Cup.

Newton Vale - 6

St. Patrick FP - 2

Newton Vale got off to a flyer scoring twice, and going 2-0 up. THe goals scored by Mark McFadden and striker Martin Jones. This changed when unfortunately James McCaig scored an own goal and made it 2-1. Many cards were awarded to either side, meaning a lot of players were skating on thin ice, but before the break, Newton Vale scored once again making the half time team talk a bit easier and they could go into the break more relaxed. The goal came from Darren Hampson, the centre forward who scored his first of the season.

Half Time: Newton Vale 3-1 St. Patricks FP.

Newton Vale then came back out from half time in the same goal scoring mood they were in when they went into half time, as they went 4-1 up when Martin Jones scored his second of the game by rounding the St Pats goal keeper and then his strike partner Darren Hampson, who scored his first of the season in this game, scored his second making it 5-1 to current champions Newton Vale. Vale sat comfortably and thought this was job done, until James McCaig was sent off for Newton Vale and St Pats started to pile on the pressure. They did score again making it 5-2 as their striker, described by Newton Vale as a ‘real handful and scored a fantastic goal’. St Pats then had a penalty and the chance to make this game on once again, but it was saved by the Newton Vale goal keeper, who changed the momentum of the game back in Newton Vale’s favour. To seal the three points Sean Donaghy scored a tap in to make it 6-2 and 3 points for the home side.

Newton Vale have said they want to give a special mention to Man of the match Marc McFarlane who had 4 assists and was on a different level on the day. A brilliant result and a good win for the current champions of the GGPAFL division 1.

Third Lanark - 3

Another brilliant victory for Third Lanark. They travelled to John Street and picked up 3 more points thanks to a brilliant hat trick from superstar Alan Semple. The first two goals were headed efforts from Semple, after two excellent crosses by Marc Corlett, who also had a blinder. The winner came from a jinking run from Marc Corlett again and he did the best he could to remain on his feet for as long as possible, but he was impeded again and the penalty was correctly awarded. Alan Semple stepped up and scored the penalty to earn three points and continue their run at the top of the table as they make it three wins from three.

A very good 10 goal thriller in division 2 as Westerlands G.G. pick up a brilliant win. They have had a tough start to this season, but they were brilliant today as they turned round their fortune. Newshot - 4

Busby - 1

Newshot make it two wins out of two in division 3 as they picked up a clinical victory over Busby. A game in the balance for the first half an hour before the danger man, who has scored a lot of goals this season, Ross Stevenson scored his first of the afternoon 34 minutes in. They dominated the first half, with the score at 1-0 to Newshot. A flourish of goals from Newshot allowed them to run away with this game as they scored 3 goals in 8 minutes, a reward for their dominance throughout the afternoon. Starting with the main man Ross Stevenson and then Kyle Brown and Jack Clark quickly followed suit, making it 4 goals for Newshot on the stroke of the hour. Another win for Newshot in division 3 sees them gaining more and more momentum at 4-0 up. With 10 minutes left on the clock, Busby got one back, but this was not enough, 4-1 to Newshot the result. The assists for Newshot came from Sean McSkimming, Fraz Black and two from Jordan Sneddon. Despite Sneddon's assists and Stevenson scoring a brace, the man of the match award went to the brilliant Scott Paterson.

Helensburgh - 4

South Lochaber Thistle - 2

A game between two old friends went the way of the home side as Helensburgh beat South Lochaber Thistle 4-2 in division 3. The scorers from South Lochaber Thistle were Martin Munro and Dave Forbes.

We managed to get a comment from South Lochaber Thistle, they have said, ‘SLT’s league season got off to a tough start, losing out to an energetic Helensburgh team. From 4-0 down, the team fought back with goals from skipper Martin Munro and Dave Forbes. Youngster Josh McFatridge played well when he came on for his league debut and a special mention to stand in goal keeper Bradley Cameron for his athletic penalty save. Best of luck to Helensburgh for the rest of the season and we look forward to welcoming them to Kinlochleven soon’.

A brilliant comment from South Lochaber Thistle. Helensburgh have been very good this season, and the first league game of the season could not have gone better. Helensburgh get off to a winning start and they travel to Busby next weekend to look to continue their run.

Rannoch Colts - 0

St Thomas - 5

Second placed Rannoch Colts were beaten by St Thomas who got a brilliant start to their league campaign. A clinical 5-0 away win over Rannoch, who before today had won and drawn in this league and had not lost. On a ground that was not the best surface, and St Thomas started slowly and struggled with playing the ball out at first due to the pitch. St Thomas eventually took a foothold in the game and scored twice and went into the break 2-0 up. St Thomas said that they ‘never looked back’. They went onto win 5-0 in a dominant second half. St Thomas have said on the game, ‘Great to get the first win in the league and looking forward to next week’s match vs. Boswell.

Currently sitting on 8 points, but they await the result of Crookston Castle vs. Calderglen who have 7 and 6 points respectively. Boswell will patiently wait to see the result of this one, as the winner of it will top of the group, they will be hoping for a draw. Calderglen lost this one, but they still have an important match against Crookston Castle, should Calderglen win the upcoming section 4 match then they will win the group. Calderglen have another chance to go again and get the group won.
