September 2017: Player & Manager of the month winners

The results of the vote are in, by twitter and email, thank you so much for the support and smashing a follow, I really do appreciate this. You have all been great, this something that we will be doing every month. Player of the Month Chrissy Aitken

The winger from Newshot, Chrissy Aitken is the player of the month as voted by you all. A well done to Alan Semple, he was a close runner up in the competition, he has been brilliant as has Chrissy. Aitken is a popular character within Newshot, and he is well respected by his team-mates. His team mates have said that they “think he could have turned pro”. He enjoys playing with his mates at Newshot, a club that have been in excellent form, and he has made them tick. During their wins and especially the epic West of Scotland Cup victory, he can run the show, and when Chrissy isn’t scoring, he is setting up a goal, an exceptional talent. His manager has some positive words to say about him, saying, "The high amount of goals and assists chrissy has so far still doesn't justify the contribution he makes over 90 minutes for newshot. Chrissy has been an excellent signing for us this year, a young guy who doesn't quite realise how good a player he actually is. He's bound to cause many teams problems this season and is already 'fulla the newshot".

Congratulations to the other nominees, making the final four, Alan Semple (Third Lanark), Scott Campbell (East Kilbride YM) and James Burns (Westcliff)  Manager of the Month James Carroll

A massive reaction from his team players, they are all very supportive of their gaffer. Jim Carroll, known by his team as Totti, has lead a good Newshot side through the early stages of the month and has been involved in some very exciting football. They have had a brilliant win in the West of Scotland Cup, they were drawing after normal time, 1-1, and then it was 3-3 after extra time, and then an awesome penalty shoot out, ending 5-4 to Newshot. This win comes after a 7-0 win and his side currently sit top of the table. A lot of reasons for this accomplishment, a really achievement and something Newshot can take forward in the future. His players speak very highly of him. A well done must also go to David Ampleford, the votes were just a couple apart from each other, he too has had an awesome season so far and will look to continue this. The well respected managers players, had this to say about him, "having dominated the west of scotland afl last season and winning the double, totti has worked his arse off to ensure a great work ethic with the newshot boys. This is reflected in newshots so far unbeaten run in a new league in both league and cup action. Totti gives the team his all and has done since he started it 3 years ago and continues to push them hard and it pays off. if you ever need to question his dedication you just have to look to last season when faced with the decision of attending his own sons bar mitzvah and watchin Newshot win the league he was there cheering the boys on at the side of the park. "jamsey carroll..... here for 10 in a row" “.

Congratulations to other nominees, Sean Donaghy (Newton Vale), David Ampleford (Third Lanark) and Graeme Robertson (East Kilbride YM).

Tomorrow, I will be announcing the team of the month, a side that has been picked by multiple people, including referees, fans, clubs and myself. As I said, this will be a competition that runs monthly, four will be nominated. Another idea is a team of the week. Each week, I have arranged with some referees, and would love clubs to get in touch with nominations, for team of the week.
