Division 1 •Calderglen vs. Eaglesham A big game, for two evenly matched sides in division 1 this weekend. The two clubs have had a tough start to the league but they will be ready to turn this around. They have a level playing field and will be ready to give their all, a good match is set to take place in Greater Glasgow's top division. I managed to speak to Calderglen this week and they have said, "Hoping to build on last week's Cup win and bounce back in the League after a disappointing first game vs Erskine. First league game at home so looking to get first 3 points on board as early as possible. Hoping to have a few players who missed last week back and there are still some boys suspended or injured so opportunities for a few players if game is on".
•Dynamo East Kilbride vs. St. Patrick's FP Another two sides that have had a tough start to the season in division 1, they will be looking to change this, on Saturday as it is still very early on this season. Dynamo East Kilbride's star centre back, Marc Elliott features in last weekends, team of the week, after an outstanding defensive display, as Dynamo East Kilbride picked up an excellent win in the Scottish Cup, against Barshaw, scoring 5 goals. They will look to continue their fine goal scoring form into a run in the league. I caught up with Dynamo East Kilbride this week and they said, "Although we are at home we know we face a tough test against St. Pat’s. We have a couple of suspensions and injuries but still got a reasonable good squad and we are looking forward to our first home game in the league". •Jordanhill vs. Cambria An excellent win for Cambria last weekend in division 1, they picked up a very good 3-1 victory and we look to continue that this weekend as they travel to Jordanhill. Jordanhill did score 3 of their own on Saturday, but unfortunately didn't win in the Scottish Cup, but will want to take their scoring form and sure their home advantage in this encounter. This will be a cracking match, two evenly matched sides. I spoke to Cambria manager, Roddy MacDonald ahead of this weekend's clash, and he said, "After going top of the league on Saturday after a very difficult match against st Patrick's confidence is it an all time high however both management and players are determined that complacency does not set. After playing GSC Jordanhill in a pre season fixture we know how good a team they are and we will need to be at our very best to take anything from the game. We have a couple of bodies out from last week with niggling injuries but are boosted by the return of captain Neil youngman and striker Chris Kay". I spoke to Iain Brown of Jordanhill this week, and he enthused, “Really looking forward to getting back to league action after what has seemed months of cup games. Cambria are a team we beat convincingly in pre-season, but it will be a completely different side and who are in form at the top of the league. Hopefully the weather holds off and we can get a great game between two competitive sides”.
•Newton Vale vs. Erskine It was the Newton Vale's super sub that was the star last time out, as Craig Fellows came off the bench to score 4 out of their 5 goals in the second half. An outstanding effort from Newton Vale, they are unbeaten in the top division and will be ready to try and continue that run as they welcome Erskine this weekend. Erskine on the other hand, were clinical in their Scottish Cup victory last weekend over Cardross. They won the game 4-0, a crushing victory that they'll be delighted with, setting up a brilliant clash between the two clubs this weekend in the Greater Glasgow League.
•Strathclyde University vs. Eastwood Parkmount 'A' A clash between two clubs that have spent the week celebrating their wins, especially Eastwood Parkmount 'A' who won their Scottish Cup match 10-0. They were in excellent form, and they travel this weekend to face Strathclyde University what will be the home side’s second game of the season. They picked up a win at home in their first game, two sides in form are set to do battle in the Greater Glasgow division 1.
•Westerlands 'A' vs. Glasgow University 'A' An excellent performance from Glasgow University 'A' last weekend as they won 4-0 to begin their 2017 Greater Glasgow League campaign, an excellent win for the home club, and a clean sheet. Westerlands 'A', the hosts have started well in division 1, currently sitting in 4th place. Another great contest this weekend taking place in division 1. Division 2 •Crookston Castle vs. East KIlbride Y.M. Graeme Robertson's men will be ready to go, as they travel to Crookston Castle this weekend. The delay for East Kilbride YM was increased as their game was called off due to heavy rainfall on the Saturday morning causing the pitch to waterlog, so they have had an extended break after the September weekend break. Last weekend Crookston Castle had a brilliant battle against Blantyre and they are going to be ready to go at home in the Greater Glasgow League. East Kilbride YM will be hoping that superstar striker Scott Campbell has been rested well over the long break and ready to continue where he left off, in fine goalscoring form, having scored 12 goals in the first 5 games this season. I spoke to East Kilbride manager, Graeme Robertson who said, "We are travelling away to play Crookston Castle in the division 2 match. They have won 2 from 2 in the league so far so we expect a tough game. We played them in the cup last season and ran out 5-1 winners so I am sure they will be looking to hit us back this season in the league. Two good young sides who like to get the ball down and pass so I expect a great match for the spectators. We are just glad to get back to league action after disappointment in the west cup and then two weeks with no competitive game".
•FC Baillieston vs. Rannoch A great game is all set to take place at FC Baillieston as they host Rannoch. Both sides have had a tough start to the season in division 1, but since the break they have both played well in the cup. Rannoch were involved in a brilliant 7 goal game as they lost 3-4 to Blochairn Star away from home in the Scottish Cup, they will want to build on the positives this weekend. FC Baillieston on the other hand, picked up a brilliant win against River Nevis away from home, winning 5-0 and booking their place in the next round of the Scottish Cup. A brilliant performance from FC Baillieston, they will be ready to continue in division 2, and register their first league win of the season. •Glasgow University 'B' vs. Ashvale Victoria Now that university is back, Glasgow University 'B' are back playing the Greater Glasgow League. They picked up a brilliant win as they won 5-1, and look to continue this against Ashvale Victoria this weekend. Ashvale Victoria will look to pick up three points away from home, they have played more games this season than Glasgow Univeristy 'B', and may have an advantage, cobwebs still may play a factor in this game. •Third Lanark vs. North Kelvin Sports This weekend Third Lanark are the hosts, as they await the visit of North Kelvin Sports in division 2. Third Lanark have had a perfect start to the season so far, having won four out of four in the league, and they will want to continue their run at the top. North Kelvin Sports are currently bottom of the league, but will hope to pick up a win against Third Lanark to turn their season around. Superstar Alan Semple was in the Team of the Week, for the weekend just gone, he scored once again on Saturday, he has started this season in phenomenal form. Passionate manager David Ampleford will be delighted with his troops and will be wanting more this weekend, and to continue a brilliant start to the season. I spoke to David Ampleford this week, and he said, "Looking forward to getting back to league action. 2 really tough games there in the cups". He continued to say, "We’ve had a bit of an injury plague hit the team but its a chance to give other players a look in".
Division 3 •Newshot vs. Boswell A huge game this weekend in the Greater Glasgow League division 3 as two teams are ready to give it all this weekend. Newshot are currently unbeaten at the top of the table having played 3 and won 3, but Boswell are also unbeaten having played 1 and won 1. The two unbeaten teams will be ready for this one, and this is a match that can have massive implications come the end of the season. Boswell will be travelling to Newshot, with both teams in great form and confidence riding high, this is going to be a classic. Newshot suffered defeat in the cup last weekend, but they will not put that to the back of their minds and look at continuing their excellent unbeaten start to division 3. They had a clean sweep in September, as their manager, Jim 'Totti' Carroll was Manager of the Month for the month of September, as well as inspirational winger, Chrissy Aitken won the Player of the Month. Chrisssy Aitken has stated the season in fine form and will want to continue this. Newshot do have talent all round the park, as they had two players in the most recent team of the week. They had centre midfielder Kyle Brown as well as, left back, Connor O'Neil, who put in an outstanding display. This is a massive game for both clubs, one you do not want to miss. Boswell picked up a crushing victory in the Scottish Cup this weekend, winning 7-0 and booked their place in the next round. At the moment this season is not very old as October begins, making the fact that Steven Odunewu picked up his fifth Man of the Match award, an outstanding stat and well deserved. Odunewu is a player that has genuine class, and has been turning heads since this season began, his hattrick helped fire Boswell through to the next round of the cup last weekend. That being said, it is not just Steven Odunewu who is doing a great job for Boswell, they have talent all round the park. Last time out, centre back Sunil Chatterjee, had Carbrain scratching their head, as he cleared every cross and attack they through at Boswell, they were left wondering if there is anything Chatterjee can't head away. Another stand out performer has to be Ben Feathers, a player that has really stood up and been counted in recent weeks for Boswell, and scored a brilliant double in the cup last weekend. He is another of many Boswell players in fine form ahead of this weekend's clash. I managed to speak to Boswell this week, and they have said, “Looking forward to the game and know it’s going to be a tough game as we played them in a preseason friendly. On that day we won 4-2 and gifted them 2 goals. It was only our 2nd game of preseason and we tired near the end of the game. This time we have more of a understanding and hopefully be at full strength and will be able to see how far we have come so far this season. #MonTheBozzy”.
•Carradale vs. South Lochaber Thistle A big game this weekend for both sides, they take to division 3 action and South Lochaber Thistle will be facing an in form Carradale side, who have picked up two excellent wins in as many games in division 3, against Busby, and have been in brilliant goal scoring forms. South Lochaber Thistle played in the Scottish Cup, and we will be ready to play in the division 3. Last weekend, SLT's Kier Kennedy played right back, not his usual position but was brilliant and made the Team of the Week. He wasn't their only stand out performer, centre forward Erik Tot, was in fine form also, a serious contented for the Team of the Week. Tot has been in goal scoring form for SLT and will hope to continue that this weekend. I managed to catch up with South Lochaber Thistle this week, and they said, “Good to go visit our footballing friends down in Campbeltown. A long journey so hopefully we can kick start our season and bring the 3 points back!”
•St Thomas vs. Busby Busby have had two tough weekends after they have had a Carradale double header, but they will want to forget about that as the league returns to normal this weekend. They will be travelling to St Thomas, and the squad, including player/manager Ryan McAnenay will want to continue his scoring form and lead his side to a win this Saturday.
President's League Cup Section 3 •Helensburgh vs. Colquhoun United A return to President's League Cup Section 3 action for Helensburgh and Colquhoun United, with many games still to be played in the Section, Helensburgh have a chance to go level on points with top of the table Westcliff. Should Colquhoun United pick up a win, then they are in with a brilliant chance as they will be level on points with both Helensburgh and St. Pat's. A huge game, and Helensburgh will be hoping that goal keeper Callum O'Brien is in the inspired form that he was in on Saturday, as Helensburgh picked up a brilliant win the Scottish Cup. Callum O'Brien was the goal keeper selected in the team of the week, and will hope to continue that this weekend. I managed to catch up with Helensburgh and they said, "It’s more cup duty for Helensburgh this Sat as they return to league cup action with Colquhoun Utd being the visitors to the Hermi. An unknown quantity for both teams as they have never played against each other". We spoke to Helensburgh manager Sam Gemmell "I expect a difficult game with Colquhoun being a league higher than us and we will need to be a lot better than we were on Sat where despite a victory had to rely a lot on the keeper and some luck. With only a couple of players missing it should a More or less a full squad to pick from".
Scottish Cup (Round 2) •Bellaire vs. Rosehill Star The Greater Glasgow League club Bellaire are in Scottish Cup action this weekend, and will be looking forward to this one, as they host Rosehill Star. •Port Glasgow vs. John Street Having head an extra weekend to rest, John Street will be ready to go as they have now had two weeks off football. A hungry John Street side will be on the road this weekend, as they travel to Port Glasgow. •John Street have said ahead of this one, "Games on the 3g this week was a late call off last week due to the grass pitch being unplayable , teams just dying to get back to playing to be honest should have pretty much a full 1st 11 available hopefully progress to next round". •Rannoch Colts vs. Carluke Hearts Greater Glasgow League club Rannoch Colts host Carluke Hearts this weekend in the Scottish Cup second round. When it comes to cup action, league positions and what league you are in means nothing, it is all about the 90 minutes that day. •Westcliff vs. FC Clydebank A home game for Westcliff as they face FC Clydebank in the Scottish Cup after last weeks game was called off. In the West of Scotland Cup, Westcliff were excellent and will hope player of the month for September nominee, James Burns is in top form one again. We managed to speak to Westcliff, who said, "Hoping to get game played not played for 2 weeks so booked 3g to get game played should have full squad back minus 1 so hoping to give a good account of ourself vs a team from fosters central league". Westcliff continued to say, "A good away day awaits the winners vs St Monans Swallows".
•Eastwood Parkmount 'B' vs. Auchenfoyle After a brilliant match last weekend between Eastwood Parkmount 'B' and Auchenfoyle in the Scottish Cup ending 2-2, they now face each other in a replay and what is sure to be a brilliant game. Eastwood Parkmount 'B' will feel confident as they can now have a home tie. They were brilliant last weekend and another installment of this fixture is something that we all want to see and is great for the game.
