A fantastic weekend in the Sunday Central League, plenty of goals and the league is officially in full swing. There is a reason why the Sunday Central League is one of the best amateur leagues in Scotland, and this weekend proved it. Exciting action throughout, and I can't wait for next weekend's action. Thank you very much to you all, the support has been amazing, I will be trying to put as much information as I can onto the articles, please feel free to get in touch whenever you can, and be sure to follow on twitter, at @__SportCentral (two underscore).

Sunday Trophy Second Round Overlee Partizans 9-1 West End Bar What a performance from Overlee Partizans once again, they have been in fine form for a long time now, and have been scoring a lot of goals. They will be very pleased with scoring 9 goals in 90 minutes, a brilliant performance from Overlee Partizans. Once Overlee Partizans get going in the league next weekend, it will be very nice to see how they get on, as they will be hungry for a win. Mulheron Scaffolding Services Premier Division 1 Castlemilk Dynamo 6-0 Polonia Glasgow A good start for Castlemilk Dynamo who are looking to mount a serious challenge for the championship this season, and it was a great start for them. Polonia Glasgow came up against very strong Castlemilk Dynamo side, but it is only the first game of the season, and they were ready to get back into next weekend and try pick up an important win. The goal for Castlemilk Dynamo came from Dylan McKinnon who picked up 2 goals, as did Andrew Cunningham who bagged a brace. They also had an own goal and Alan Larkin also scored, a great performance from Castlemilk Dynamo. I managed to speak to brilliant Castlemilk Dynamo centre half, Alan Semple, who said, “Convincing victory for us today. 4-0 up at half time. All credit to Polonia, most teams let their heads go down at 4-0, but they stuck to it and made it tough without ever really threatening to make a mark on the game. We are fully aware that there are tougher tests to come but a good 3 points and a clean sheet is a good way to start the season”. Drumchapel United 5-1 Cranhill United A great win for Drumchapel United at home to Cranhill United this weekend. The home side, Drumchapel United were helped by a hattrick by the brilliant Jamie Gilmartin, scoring three goals, but was not the man of the match. Stephen McDevitt was the man of the match, testament to how well McDevitt played, having been awarded the accomplishment ahead of the hat trick hero. The other goals were scored by Allan Kerr and Joe Preston. A game played in great spirit and Drumchapel were brilliant as ever in wishing Cranhill United luck for the future. Cranhill are a very good side and they are going to be serious contenders in this league. Sunday was a result between two very good teams, it is going to be a very tight season this year in the brilliant Sunday Central League. I managed to speak to Drumchapel United, and they have said, “Great performance from the boys to beat a good Cranhill side. Some very good goals scored today and good to get the league campaign off with a win and 3 points. All the best to Cranhill for the season”. Eastend Tower 8-2 Crownpoint United 10 goals scored in the Sunday Central Premier League in this one, with Eastend Tower coming out winners having scored 8 goals. A brilliant performance, but Crownpoint United will understand that this is the first game of the season, and there is a long way to go. Crownpoint United will be ready to go again, will hope to hit fine form when they have a home fixture next weekend. Haghill 3-2 Northend A brilliant game took place between Haghill and Northern in the top division of one of Scotland’s leading Sunday football league. Northend and Haghill are both serious contenders to be champions this season, and a brilliant five goal game could have gone either way. The goals for the home club Haghill was a family affair today, and lead to an interesting couple of facts! William McArthur who scored twice for Haghill today, is the uncle of Jason McArthur, who scored the other goal. It is not often that you see the goal scorers being a nephew and uncle combination, but to make it better, Jason McArthur’s brother, is James McArthur who plays for Crystal Palace and Scotland. I managed to speak to Paul Hughes of Haghill this weekend, and he said, “Great result and the first 3 points on the board hard fought game which we sealed in the last minute worked tirelessly from start to finish and got the win our play deserved always hard against Northend always a tight affair but good to get the win against them at last all the best to Northend for the season”. Haghill Line up: Davis Fox Campbell Graham W MacArthur Stewart Simpson Roxburgh Scolin Cairns Waddle, subs Adair McDougall J McArthur Tidser Mulheron Scaffolding Services Premier Division 2 Castlemilk United 1-4 Carluke Thistle Visitors Carluke Thistle were in fine form against Castlemilk United, and they had a hat trick hero in the ranks. Giz Yuill of Carluke Thistle scored a hat trick for his side, inevitably winning man of the match and the other was scored by Jack Gold. Castlemilk United will be ready to move onto next weekend after a tough game against a very good Carluke Thistle side. Carluke Thistle may have been concerned this morning before the game, having only 12 men, and the worries were increased when Castlemilk United scored 2 minutes in, and came out of the block flying. The worries disappeared when just 10 minutes in, Carluke Thistle levelled the score, with Giz Yuill scoring the first, thanks to a cross from Davie Main. At half time, the scores were tied, before Davie Main picked up his second assist as he set up Jack Gold, to score his fifth of the season. The 70th minute saw the third goal of the game, as Craig Mitchell pulled off a great pass to set up Giz Yuill. Davie Main, who played brilliant all day, picked up his third assist of the game, and Giz Yuill picked up his third goal of the game, and they completed a brilliant performance from Carluke Thistle. With Carluke Thistle only having 12 men, assistant manager, Scott Parry had to take his place on the bench, having only got back from a sunny holiday away, just a few hours prior to the kick off! Glasgow Rovers 2-9 Albion A huge win for Albion this weekend, on the road to Glasgow Rovers, a good 11 goal thriller. Albion will be very pleased with the result and the fact that they scored 9 out of the 11 goals, a brilliant statistic that they will hope to take their fine goal scoring form, into the next set of fixtures with them. Haldane United 1-3 Brunswick A winning start for Brunswick away from home as they beat Haldane United 3-1. A good result for the visitors who will be challenging for the championship this year. Brunswick will want to continue on this track and take confidence into the upcoming matches. Haldane United have come up against very good opposition and will be ready to go again this weekend. Rutherglen Rovers 2-3 Sporting Pumas Brilliant game in Rutherglen as the Rovers hosted the Sporting Pumas, a very good side that spend last season unbeaten and they began this season in similar fashion. Rutherglen Rovers played well and they will take a lot of positives from a very good game with a brilliant Sporting Pumas side. Both sides will take confidence into the next round of games. Mulheron Scaffolding Services Premier Division 3 Carluke Victoria 2-4 Calderside A close game between Carluke Victoria and Calderside, as Calderside came out on top of a 6 goal showdown. The away team won 4-2 on the day, but Carluke Victoria will have plenty of positives to take through to the next round with them. Calderside will be pleased with their winning start to the season, and will be happy with scoring 4. They will want to build on this in the coming weeks. East End Star 3-0 Red Stars Baagrade Red Staars Baagrade played their second game of the season, making it one win, on loss to begin this season, but a winning start for EastEnd Star. Star will be happy with their 3-0 win at home and will take confidence into next week. Brilliant performance from EastEnd Star, both clubs have now won one in the Sunday Central League Premier League 3.

I managed to speak to Sean Smith of East End Star, and he said, "First League game of the season great start from the lads with couple of early chances going a miss, then Jordan Tidser scored in the 20 min quickly followed by Dean McDonald, Red stars baagrade came into the game but Micheal Beattie in middle of the park controlled the second half with Paul McGowan completing the scoring, now on to the west cup against rivals Wellhouse afc on sunday 15th".  Glasgow Irish 0-8 Rosehill Thistle After suffering a set back last weekend, Rosehill Thistle were exceptional this weekend, picking up an 8 nil win to send them to the top of the table. Thistle needed a reaction from last weekend, and they got one...a great victory over Glasgow Irish. Glasgow Irish will have now blown the cobwebs off and can have a week to rest and to start their season again next weekend. Rosehill Thistle will be very pleased with how they performed this weekend, and should be pleased with scoring 8 goals and keeping a clean sheet. Gorbals United 3-3 Cambuslang Football Academy Fair result between two very good sides, as Gorbals United drew with the Cambuslang Football Academy. Both sides scoring 3 good goals, and a good result all around. At the Glasgow Green 4g, the two clubs kick started their season. Both teams will have wanted a win, but will be satisfied with a point to kick start their league campaign. PFD 3-1 Sauchie Excellent performance from the home team as PFD United who get off to a winning start at home, against a good Sauchie side. The first goal came from midfielder Cunningham, but then the next two came from the strikers, Kane and Dyer, to secure the three points for the home side. Sauchie will be looking to bounce back when they play at their home ground, a lot of positives to take into the next game. Cutting Edge Engravers Championship Division 1 East Kilbride Athletic 4-3 Vale Rangers A great game took place in East Kilbride this weekend as a seven goal thriller ended 4-3 to East Kilbride Athletic. An excellent double for Tocher of East Kilbride Athletic, instrumental in earning his side the victory today. The score at half time was 3-1 to East Kilbride Athletic, but Vale Rangers’ second half performance made it 3-3, but a last minute goal made it 4-3 to give East Kilbride Athletic the three points. The goals for Vale Rangers came from Nei Burch and two goals from Logan Park, a brilliant game for the neutral. I spoke to Vale Rangers who said, “Went again with a depleted squad of 14. Started the game poorly but second half felt like we did enough to get the point. Sore one to take with EK scoring the winner in the dying minutes”. I managed to speak to East Kilbride Athletic, and they have said, “Our game finished a 4-3 win today with a last minute goal after leading 3-1 at half time. Made the game hard for ourselves at points but with a makeshift squad we got another vital win and that’s what matters”. Eastwood Mearns 5-2 Eastend Rovers A brilliant win for Eastwood Mearns as they beat Eastend Rovers 5-2 to begin the season. Excellent game between the two clubs, plenty for the two clubs to be proud of. A great contest, and a tough one for Eastwood Mearns having gone down to 9 men at one point, but they showed phenomenal character and determination to stick at it and to come away with all three points. Eastend Rovers will be ready to put this aside and focus on the next task in hand. I managed to speak to Eastwood Mearns this week, and they said, "Absolutely delighted to get our first 3 points on the board in some tricky circumstances. Still slightly frustrated we were down to 9 men but the character the lads showed to play 30 plus minutes with 9 men not concede and score to make it 5-2 was just phenomenal. When you go down to 9 men you need a reaction from your players and we certainly got what we were looking for. I'll take the positives and move on to our next challenge which is Wishaw Athletic in the West of Scotland Cup". Glenmill Thistle 3-3 Rumours AFC The honours were even in this Sunday Central Championship 1 clash, as Glenmill Thistle and Rumours AFC both scored 3 each to both take a share of the points. Both clubs would have loved to have taken home maximum points, but a draw is a fair result, both clubs will be pleased with how they played in this tight tussle. HSV 4-2 Provanmill Thistle A win for the home club HSV over Provanmill Thistle this weekend, as HSV scored 4 goals in their 4-2 victory at home. Provanmill Thistle will take positives from their game this weekend and they did of course win in the league a week prior to this game. Provanmill Thistle will want to pick up a win next weekend and go on a run of games. A brilliant performance and a great start for HSV. New Stevenston United 1-3 Weir Recreation A great game in the top Championship division between these two clubs. Weir Recreation will be pleased with picking up the victory, and scoring three great goals in the process. Weir Recreation will take a lot of confidence through to next weekend. New Stevenston United will want to put this weekend behind them, and move onto next weekend, and try to pick up the all important win. A great performance from a strong Weir Recreation side. I managed to speak to Weir Recreation manager, Scott, and he said, “To be frank we were off the pace today. First 10/15 minutes the game was evenly matched before William scored an excellent solo beating 3 defenders and slotting home. We scored a free kick shortly after which killed the game. In the second half we went 3-0 before NS pulled one back. In a flat game for both teams we are pleased to grind out the results. All the best to New Stevenston we look forward to the return leg”. Cutting Edge Engravers Championship Division 2 Bengal Lancers 4-7 Bardykes Rovers Excellent game between Bengal Lancers and Bardykes Rovers this weekend as they scored 11 goals between them both, with the away club, Bardykes Rovers scoring 7 of them and picking up the important three points in the Championship division 2. Bardykes Rovers will be very pleased with the result and the Bengal Lancers have a lot of positives to take into the next set of games with them. Blantyre Albion 0-0 SL Ravens A stalemate between two clubs in the Sunday Central Championship division 2 as home club Blantyre Albion couldn’t break the deadlock with opposition SL Ravens. Both sides will be happy with the point each, and will look to build on that point next weekend, hoping to add a win to their early season tally. Broadwood Clyde 4-9 Rutherglen Burgh Exciting game in division 2 between Broadwood Clyde and Rutherglen Burgh, as there was 13 goals scored between the two sides. The away side, Rutherglen Burgh came out on top scoring 9 in an entertaining game without a dull moment. It is always an exciting game when there are 13 goals in 90 minutes! A special mention must go to Ryan O’Donnell and Scott Lawrie of Broadwood Clyde, who have been complimented by many people after this weekend’s performance, they will be serious players to look out for throughout this season. Glasgow Star 3-3 Newmains United Exciting game ends in a draw between Glasgow Star and Newmains United, a point each for two clubs that performed brilliantly on the day. The Newmains United goal scorers were Ross Calder, Daniel Wells and Brian Faller, as the travelling Newmains United will be pleased with the result having gone 3-1 down during the game. A brilliant show of character and fight to bring the score back level by the final whistle, a great performance and they will have left the ground pleased with a point. The two goals to draw it back level were within the last five minutes of this encounter, and they will be happy with the point at the end of the game. I managed to speak Newmains United’s manager Paul McMahon, and he said, “It was a game we should have won. We had chance to put them to bed, but a few decisions changed the game. We were glad to salvage a point, but disappointed overall as it should have been 3”. Kilsyth Rovers 3-1 Wellhouse A great result for the home club Kilsyth Rovers who won 3-1 at home against Wellhouse. The first half goal came from Ross Bothwell and the second half goals came from Steven Armstrong and Josh McLean, to earn a brilliant victory for Kilsyth Rovers. Wellhouse will move onto next week to look for that first victory of the season. I managed to speak to Kilsyth Rovers managed Colin Hughes, who said, “Was a gritty game, both teams gave their all, we took the lead against the run of play in the first half and second we dominated I felt”. Cutting Edge Engravers Championship Division 3 Airdrie Albion 4-1 Nethercraigs Great performance from Airdrie Albion after a tough start to the season. They kick started their season this weekend, winning 4-1 against a Nethercraigs side that played their first game of the season this Sunday. As proven the home side, a losing start can be changed into a positive one, as the Nethercraigs will hope to continue in their fashion. Glasgow Athletic 4-3 Eastwood Mearns B Fantastic and entertaining game between Glasgow Athletic and Eastwood Mearns B, a match that was slightly edged by Glasgow Athletic, the home side. Eastwood Mearns B showed incredible fight scoring 3, but Glasgow Athletic scored 4 brilliant goals and picked up the all important 3 points. A brilliant game from two very good sides that are set to have excellent seasons based on this start to the season. Queenslie 3-2 Colquhoun United What a performance for Adam El Kasaby of Queenslie this weekend, as the home club picked up a 3-2 victory, with El Kasaby’s goals being the difference. Colquhoun United will be pleased with their performance and will have a lot of positives to take through with them to the next fixture in the Sunday Central League. What makes Adam El Kasaby’s hat trick even better, is the fact that it was inside the first 20 minutes. A huge congratulations to El Kasaby. I spoke to Queenslie this weekend, and they said, “Conceded a goal just before Half time and one in the second half. Dominated the first half but took our foot off the gas in the second half and made it difficult for ourselves in the second half but managed to grind out the win”. Summerston Ams 2-12 East Lane Excellent start for East Lane, as they put double figures past Summerston Ams in the first game of their seasons. Summerston Amateurs are going to quickly forget about this one and move onto another day and another game next Sunday. East Lane will take huge confidence from this brilliant performance and will hope to continue their fine goal scoring form.

Man of the Match was Martin Sinclair after a brilliant performance. Sinclair scored 4 times, brilliant work from the striker. He was well supported by a brilliant supporting cast as his team mates added the other 8 goals! They did get an own goal and a goal from central midfielder, Dale McCormack. There was many players scoring doubles including substitute Paul Richardson, and wingers Scott Lewis and Aaron Harwood scoring two each. They come off a brilliant win against Bathgate winning 9-0, very impressive as they have had 21 goals in their last two games. They will be very happy with their performance and will take confidence into the next round. A brilliant performance from East Lane.

The East Lane team is as follows: A. Ritchie, J. Agnew, C. Anderson, R. Quigley, C. Kay, A. Harwood, JJ. O'Rourke, D. McCormack, S. Lewis, S. Christensen, M. Sinclair.
