•West of Scotland Cup •Red Staars Baagrade 1-8 Rutherglen Burgh A wonderful result for Rutherglen Burgh this weekend, they were on the road to Red Staars Baagrade, and they picked up an emphatic win. They scored eight, and conceded just one. They will progress through to the next round of the cup, taking a tremendous amount of confident into both league action, and the third round. Red Staars Baagrade will look to put this result behind them, and move onto league action next weekend. Rutherglen Burgh will be pleased with this performance, taking many positives onto their next challenge with them. •Vale Rangers 2-13 Castlemilk Dynamo An excellent performance from Castlemilk Dynamo, as they were clinical in front of goal. Vale Rangers started brightest in the game, as they took the lead, a brilliant cross from Jordan Kirkwood, who headed home for his first of the game. It didn’t take long for Castlemilk Dynamo to strike back, and quickly went 2-1 up. It was at this point when Castlemilk Dynamo ran away with the game, as the Vale Rangers goal keeper was sent off, for a deliberate hand ball, and the floodgates opened. Last weekend’s man of the match Andrew Cunningham, scored four goals this weekend, and was well supported by a super hattrick from Connaire Dawson. A super display from Castlemilk Dynamo, they scored thirteen goals, including eight different goal scorers. The other goal scorers were Dom Larkins, James Miller, Alan Kane, Craig Cairney, Greg Twaddle, and the brilliant Alan Semple. I managed to speak to Castlemilk Dynamo star Alan Semple, and he explained, “Really strange game for our first ever Sunday West of Scotland Cup match. We went 1-0 down inside the first minute, cracking cross from their right winger right onto the forwards head. Good goal. We worked our way into the match and equalised around 20 mins in. We took a hold of the game and went 2-1 up. Pivotal part of the game came just before halftime when Andrew Cunningham was clean through on goal, lobbed the ball over the keeper who deliberately handled outside the area leaving the referee no option but to send him off. In the second half we ran riot, scoring a goal on average every four minutes and conceding another on the breakaway at 6-1 up. Pleasing enough performance and we go into a huge league game next week against good rivals Northend.” •Bardykes 2-4 Drumchapel United Drumchapel United will be pleased with their victory on the road this weekend, they have been excellent to begin this season, and this Sunday was no different. Bardykes have a lot of positives to take through with them, they pushed a very good Drumchapel United side the whole way. The Drumchapel United goals came from Joe Preston, Thomas Murray, Steve Davies and Ian Stevenson, but the man of the match award was awarded to Harry Clark of Drumchapel. A brilliant match for both sides, a great advert for the game. I managed to speak to Drumchapel United and they said, "Far from at our best today against a well drilled Bardykes side. Took the lead and then gave away 2 sloppy goals to go in at halftime 2-1 down. Came out and dominated the 2nd half and finally the goals came to see us through to the next round. Just happy to be in the draw for the 2nd round after not one of our better displays. All the best to Bardykes for the season". •Brunswick 2-0 Kilmarnock Supporters An excellent win for Sunday Central League club Brunswick as they picked up a 2-0 victory this weekend, and will progress through to the next round of the West of Scotland Cup. They will be delighted with their clean sheet against the Kilmarnock Supporters. •Coltness United 3-1 Glasgow Rovers A win for Coltness United against Sunday Central League, Glasgow Rovers. Eastend Star will be pleased with the result and will look to build on this win in the league also. I spoke to Sean Smith, manager of Eastend Star, and he said, “Great performance from the full team from back to front controlled the game from the first whistle some nice football from the lads with Dean MacDonald scoring 2 goals with 5 mins of each other, Paul McGowan then scored the 3rd. Wellhouse pulled 1 back just before half time. Second half was all about us controlling the game then stand in captain David Morrison scored the 4th, We welcomed back Raymond Bremner to the team after couple of weeks out with injury he scored the 5th with Paul McGowan finished it of scoring the 6th. The team is Buzzing for the Draw on Wednesday Afternoon Mon the Eastend Star”. •Eastwood Mearns 2-2p Wishaw Athletic A tough day for Eastwood Mearns this weekend, after the brilliant Rowan Dickson won the SportCentral player of the week award last weekend, they went toe to toe with Eastwood Mearns for both normal and extra time. They went all the way to the last hurdle and lost in a penalty shoot out to Wishaw Athletic. A tough game, but they will now want to recover and focus their attention on picking up points in the league. I caught up with the brilliant Steven Sharp, manager of Eastwood Mearns said, "Difficult one to take for us this week going out of the West of Scotland at such an early stage. Well done to Wishaw who progress and not taking anything away from them but Sunday was way below par for me in terms of my expectations of the squad and my players are all aware that the level of performance we put in isn't what we are looking for going forward. It's extremely frustrating but we need to be realistic and remember we are a brand new club in the early stages so have a lot to learn. We will regroup this week and move on as quickly as possible." •Elms 3-4 Bengal Lancers A brilliant game to place this weekend in the West of Scotland Cup, and a remarkable come back from the Bengal Lancers, they were 3-1 down with 75 minutes gone, just 15 minutes left, and then they pulled off an amazing comeback. They came back to win this game 4-3, in dramatic fashion. A great result, one that must have been fantastic to watch and Bengal Lancers are through to the next round. •Glasgow Star 1-1p Wishaw Wycombe A great game in the West of Scotland Cup in this cracking encounter. They have played a lot of football and want to rest up this week ready to take their confidence into the league with them. •Killie Athletic 5-1 Carluke Victoria A tough day out for the away club Carluke Victoria, as they lost to Killie Athletic in the West of Scotland Cup. They will be up for the league action that is coming up, and will want to string together a couple of wins. •Newmains 2-1 Sauchie A close game went down between Newmains and Sauchie this Sunday, the home club edged the victory over Sauchie. A tough pitch to play on, the away club Sauchie, did very well to adapt on the road, but they will be ready to focus on league action. They pushed the home club right to the end and ran them very close, a good game in the West of Scotland Cup and one that they will take positives on with them. Although the man of the match was awarded to James Hislop, Sauchie would like it to be a joint award, to James Hislop and Sean Preston. I spoke to Sauchie and they said, "Bad day at the office playing on a heavy grass park we just didn’t get into our passing game lost a stupid goal in first half. Then scored from a corner from our Centre half sean Preston. Then (mins to go in second half they had a corner and it was headed into our goal from our player hard to take but it is what it is." •Newmains United 0-6 Haghill A tough game for the home club Newmains United this weekend, as they faced a very good and in form side, Haghill. Haghill started their season last weekend with a bang, earning an excellent victory in the league. It seems Haghill have taken that form with them into the cup, and will hope to take it into the next round of the West of Scotland Cup. Now Newmains United will look to redirect their focus and they will look to focus their full attention on league action, and to carry on and try and go on a run in the league. Haghill on the other hand, will want their incredible form to continue, they have been ruthless in front of goal, and brilliant at the back, an outstanding performer from the away side. The Haghill line up: Davis, Fox, Campbell, Graham, Simpson, Stewart, Tidser, McDougall, Scolin, Roxbrough, Cairns - Subs - Hughes, Smith, Waddell, Hannah. I managed to speak to Paul McMahon, manager of Newmains United and he said, "I don't believe the scoreline reflects the game. For 65 minutes we went toe to toe with one of the top teams in Sunday Football & held our own. Sloppy mistakes at a couple of set pieces killed us and caused the heads to go down. From then on in, Haghill punished as, as quality teams do". I also managed to catch up with Paul Hughes of Haghill, and he said, "Slow start and only 1 nil half time 2nd period decent better tempo to the play and some decent football made some changes and 3 of the subs scored which along with the clean sheet is decent sundays work. All The best to newmains for the season". •Northend 4-2 Eastfield Star A close encounter in the Sunday Central League, as Northend and Eastfield Star both played well in this game, with the home club Northend edging the win.
