It is going to be a brilliant weekend in Greater Glasgow league action, I am looking forward to it. Scottish Cup (Round 2) •Carluke Hearts vs. Rannoch Colts A game that they have been waiting for a long time, it has been called off many times so far, but they will want it too be played this weekend. A long awaited fixture but one they will both be looking forward too getting on. •FC Clydebank vs. Westcliff After a long delay in getting this game on, Westcliff drew 2-2 with FC Clydebank. The club will be looking to start well and to win the Scottish Cup replay away from home. It was called off last weekend, so both sides will be fresh and ready to go and both very hungry to pick up a win. West of Scotland Cup (Round 3) •EKRR vs. Helensburgh Another attempt this weekend at getting their West of Scotland Cup match on for Helensburgh, a team that are used to Cup action. They have been involved in many cup competitions as of late and will hope that gives them an advantage in their away game to EKRR in round 3. They will want to continue their current run of good form and progress through to the next round. I managed to speak to Helensburgh, and they have said, “Looking forward to getting the game played on Sat. We were actually struggling with numbers last week so the cancellation has helped us a bit as most of the guys are available. EKRR are playing in the top league of the SAFL do we expect a difficult game”. •Symington Caledonian vs. Cambria A huge game was set to take place in the West of Scotland Cup, as Cambria are travelling to Symington Caledonian. The game was called off last weekend, making us wait until this weekend for this season excellent fixture. Cambria's Benji MacInness won the Greater Glasgow League division 1 player of the week two weeks ago, and will hope that he and his team mates will come back fitter and hungrier this weekend after a weekend off. This week I managed to speak to Richard Gordon, Co manager of Cambria, and he said, “First and foremost we are praying to the weather gods that the game can go ahead. Just as last week all the boys are up for this and we have almost a full squad to chose from. We're not too familiar with our Ayrshire opponents although the record books show a comprehensive victory for Cambria 5 years ago but I'm sure there has been a lot of changes to both sides since then. This will be a very tough game but we are hoping it's our names that are in the hat for the fourth round.” Division 1 •Dynamo East Kilbride vs. Newton Vale Both of these clubs have been in excellent form as they look to extend that in the Greater Glasgow League division 1. Dynamo East Kilbride's William Stalker and centre back Marc Elliott have both been in exceptional goal scoring form and they will hope to keep that going at home this weekend. They are hosting very tough opposition as they will play Newton Vale, who sit second in the top division. Newton Vale have been in excellent form, they have not lost any of their league games this season, having won 3 and drawn the other. You could not call this one at all at this point, all that we can say for sure, is that it is going to be a brilliant match. I managed to speak to Newton Vale this week, and they have said, “It was disappointing not getting our game on last week but the boys are looking forward to getting back playing again. Pretty much a full team this week however captain Thomas Houston is out. Getting very good numbers at training so lots of positions up for grabs which will help push us on.” I also managed to speak to Dynamo East Kilbride, and they said, “at home v Newton vale who are 2nd in the league never played them before but expect a tough game against an organised side hopefully we have 1 or 2 back from injury that will boost our squad and hopefully the weather brightens up”. •Eastwood Parkmount ‘A’ vs. Calderglen Both clubs were involved in fantastic matches last weekend. Victory for Calderglen in the President's League Cup last weekend helped them to finish top of it. They are on the row this weekend to Eastwood Parkmount 'A', who will take a lot of positives from last weekends cup game, despite the result. Eastwood Parkmount have won three out of the their four games in the league this season, and they will be pleased with 3rd spot at this point of the season. Calderglen have been in many cup games and have only played once in the league this year and they will be ready to open up their account in the league. •Jordanhill vs. Glasgow University ‘A’ Despite the result last weekend, Jordanhill will be delighted with their performance and will take a lot of positives into this home tie with Glasgow University 'A'. The university outfit will be looking to string together some victories in the league. This will be a brilliant game between two very good clubs, both looking to record wins. I managed to speak to Iain Brown of Jordanhill and he said, “Looking forward to this weekend as we welcome Glasgow Uni to Norwood. Hopefully the weather holds off, as we have a few players back from injury and holiday. Looking to get our first points on the board after a difficult start to the league. Glasgow Uni are always unpredictable, so can never really look into their form.” •Strathclyde University vs. St. Patrick’s FP Last weekend, St. Patrick's FP scored three goals, secured three points, but most importantly, kept a clean sheet. They will be on the road this weekend to Strathclyde University a very young and talented side that will be hoping to pick up a win this weekend to kick their league seasons into action. •Westerlands ‘A’ vs. Erskine Two clubs that have had a brilliant start to the reason. Westerlands A currently sit at 4th in division 1, and Erskine are 5th. Erskine picked up an excellent victory last weekend and they were lethal in front of goal and they will want to continue their run of form. Westerlands A are always dangerous and the young side will home to make use of their hometown advantage. Division 2 •Crookston Castle vs. Third Lanark The brilliant Third Lanark have been exceptional this season so far, unbeaten and top of the table, as they have won all 6 of their games to begin the season, having scored 31 goals from the six games. They are on the road to Crookston Castle a side that have been brilliant this year, and have been unbeaten in the league also. They have played 3 and won all 3. Crookston Castle will look to continue their run of form in the league. Last weekend they had a tough result, but they will want to put the cup loss behind them and to try and pick up a victory in the league. Top of it the table Third Lanark will be ready to travel too 3rd in the league, for a battle of two clubs which currently remain unbeaten in the league. •East Kilbride YM vs. Colquhoun United Second placed club East Kilbride YM have had a brilliant start to the season, superstar Scott Campbell has been incredible and can't stop scoring. Colquhoun United will be ready to go this weekend, they will take a positive attitude into this clash with East Kilbride YM. Division 2 is starting to take place, and East Kilbride YM will be pleased with being at the best end of that. But of course, it is all matters about the 90 minutes on the day. I spoke to East Kilbride YM manager Graeme Robertson, and he has said, “we play Colquhoun utd at home in the league looking to build on a good performance last week winning 5-0 against Ashvale. We have 24 players fit and available for this weekend so I will have to pick the best 16 for the squad this Saturday. Good to have new signing Forward Grant Fraser in the squad who I am sure will take some of the heat off Scott Campbell on the goal scoring front.” •FC Baillieston vs. Eastwood Parkmount ‘B’ In division 2, we see a clash between FC Baillieston, a team that have been in brilliant form, as they have won 13-1 last weekend, an exceptional win, to keep their run of good form going. Eastwood Parkmount ‘B’ on the other hand have had a weekend off and therefore they will be hungry and ready to go this weekend. Eastwood Parkmount ‘B’ and FC Baillieston are very close in the table, with the home club in 4th place currently, and the away club Eastwood Parkmount currently in 5th, a lot to play for in this game, both clubs will want to continue their good starts to the season. •Glasgow University ‘B’ vs. Westerlands GG A clash of two Glasgow University teams clash in the Greater Glasgow League. The clubs are currently sitting at 7th and 8th, the Glasgow University ‘B’ side have played twice, and have won one and lost one, and Westerlands GG have played 4 and won half of them also. They will both be ready to kick start their season with three more points. •John Street vs. Ashvale Victoria This will be a good game between two clubs that have had very similar starts to the season. Both teams have picked up some great wins, and enjoy the same percentage of wins. John Street have won one out of three, and Ashvale Victoria have won two out of six, but the clubs will be ready to go, and make a statement this weekend by picking up three points. This will be a brilliant start to the season. Division 3 •Belliare vs. Busby Busby are a brilliant young side, that are going to get better and better, and they have picked up a few good win in the league that have put them into 4th place in the table. They are going to be on the road this weekend Bellaire. Belliare have played just once in the league, and they picked up a draw, meaning they have not lost at all so far, so they will hope to string together a set of wins to kick off their run in the Greater Glasgow League. •Carradale vs. St Thomas This is going to be a close contest between two good division 3 sides. Carradale are the hosts and they have played well. They picked up two good wins over Busby in a double header, and they will want to continue that form against St Thomas this weekend. St Thomas have started well and have played well. Inspirational player/manager Ryan McAnenay have been excellent all season, and has lead from the front, and he will hope to lead his side to three points this weekend. •South Lochaber Thistle vs. Boswell This weekend, both South Lochaber Thistle and Boswell are going to be hungry get back on the park and ready to pick up three points after a weekend out of football. Last time out for the home club, they won a thrilling 9 goal encounter as the Hungarian superstar Erik Tot scored a great hattrick to give his side SLT the edge and to pick up three massive points in the league. They are up against a very good Boswell side, that have talent all round the park, including the big Steven Odunewu, a talented player that is going to be looking to lead from the front this weekend as his side Boswell are looking for three points, in a league they will hope to mount a serious challenge to win it all. I managed to speak to South Lochaber Thistle, and they have said, “SLT welcome Boswell to Kinlochleven for the first time. After the frustrations of having a game scratched last week due to the weather, the team are looking forward to building on the recent improvements in performances.” I managed to speak to Boswell, and they said, “Mini bus booked for our first road trip of the season up to kinlochleven couple of players missing due to them coming off the nightshift but looking to get our league campaign back on track”.
