WWE TLC 2017 Review: Olympic Shield Bomb

The WWE rolled into the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and a packed crowd of much over 13, 000 plus people were brilliant and loud at the event. The pay per view was amazing, the match between AJ Styles and Finn Balor, was everything and more than we thought it would be, and the main event was brilliant from even before the bell. The only problem I have with the pay per view is Elias and Jason Jordan moments! I personally did not enjoy it, but I understand if people did, but my point would be...everything that Elias and Jordan did at TLC would have been normal if it was on a normal show, but it did not give TLC a big pay per view feel, in my opinion. The dream match and the main event were amazing in this pay per view, and the two matches will be remembered for a very long time to come! Must be said, what a main event that was! It was phenomenal and one you could not take your eyes off for a second of it! Brilliant show to have watched, and all in all, a great pay per view! I can’t wait to see the backlash from the main event very soon! What an amazing show!

Emma A submission win for Asuka, as she made Emma tap out! A solid start to 2017’s edition of WWE TLC, but an amazing main roster debut from the unbeaten Asuka. Asuka has been brilliant since she joined NXT and she will be ready to break down every boundary in the RAW Women’s division, and becoming the best and one day the champion. Asuka is set for a massive future in the company, and this is the dawning of that.

The Miz, Cesaro, Sheamus, Braun Strowman and Kane are backstage and seem to be on the same page for tonight’s match against Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose and Kurt Angle, and despite Braun Strowman saying they need to stay out of his way while he gets the job done! They seem to be on the same page going into tonight’s huge event. Elias is out in the ring with his guitar, but Jason Jordan comes out and and begins to chuck vegetables at him to interrupt him, something we can all thank Jason Jordan for doing! 2. Cedric Alexander & Rich Swann defeated. Gentleman Jack Gallagher & The Brian Kendrick

Cruiserweight action took over TLC, as the bodies flew around, and the organised chaos ensued. All four men were brilliant, and the intelligent Brian Kendrick and Jack Gallagher used their ability to try and give them the edge of the two excellent high flyers. You could not take your eyes off the action, it was brilliant non stop and always something happening. The best bit of commentary in this one came from Nigel McGuinness saying, Brian Kendrick is sports entertainment’s Bobby Fisher! For those that do not know, Bobby Fisher is a world Chess grandmaster. A brilliant win for Rich Swann and Cedric Alexander, as the excellent Cedric Alexander delivered a Lumbar Check and pinned The Brian Kendrick, after an incredible Phoenix Splash from Rich Swann. High flying cruiserweight action is brilliant to see one again, and all four were brilliant, and deserving winners, Cedric Alexander and Rich Swann. That is not all for the Cruiserweights at TLC, the Cruiserweight Championship is up for grabs!

3. RAW Women’s Championship Match Alexa Bliss (C) defeated. Mickie James The six times Women’s Champion Mickie James competed for the RAW Women’s Championship tonight against the braggadocious Alexa Bliss. The build consisted of Alexa Bliss mocking Mickie James’ age and tried to prove that her best days are behind her. Mickie James is as talented as she ever and is currently on top of her game. The win did go to the confident Alexa Bliss, who will not show it, but should have a lot more respect for Mickie James. A brilliant match up that could have gone either way, but did go the way of the talented champion, Alexa Bliss, who continues her reign as champion. Straight after the win, they conducted an interview with Mickie James, and asked, ‘you must be disappointed?’, not what you want to hear after losing a championship match!! She thanks all of the fans and also says how this will not be her last time fighting to be the champion.

Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose are backstage with Kurt Angle, who begins to talk to the Shield, but Seth Rollins says they did not come to speak about strategy...they came to give him his own Shield jacket for tonight! Oh yes, they GM and legend Kurt Angle is back! They bring Elias back out again with his guitar, the fans boo him, he plays his guitar horribly, and attempts to sing, and Jason Jordan comes out and throws vegetables at him again! In the ring I am a big fan of Jason Jordan, but these segments are ridiculous. It is cheesy, boring and something you wouldn’t see anywhere else in the world for good reason! I don’t know about you, but I wish they would stop the Elias segments! Cruiserweight Championship 4. Enzo Amore defeated. Kalisto (C)

I ran a poll before this one for you all to make your prediction ahead of this contest, and 60% of you predicted Kalisto will retain, and 40% of you all think Enzo Amore will walk out champion! Enzo Amore lost his voice before the match, making his pre match promo difficult, but somehow, the brilliant Enzo Amore was still brilliant on the microphone. But I was wrong with my predicition going into this one, as Enzo Amore became a two time Cruiserweight Champion, after a thumb in the eye to Kalisto, and then Amore put him away.

5. Finn Balor defeated. AJ Styles

An absolute dream match between AJ Styles and Finn Balor!

The two wrestlers facing off is a dream come true for most of us, and what a phenomenal match this was. I ran a poll before the match and at the last minute, Finn Balor tipped the odds and Finn Balor was voted by 60% of you! AJ Styles was just loaned to Monday Night RAW due to Bray Wyatt falling ill before the event. As Michael Cole correctly pointed out, this is not the RAW vs. SmackDown Survivor Series contest, but will wet your appetite for the upcoming pay per view. This match was phenomenal and the dream match delivered everything it could have done and more! They went back and forth throughout, as the result went the way of RAW’s Finn Balor over SmackDown’s AJ Styles. A lot of credit must go to AJ Styles who jumped on a plane late last night and flew through the night to make it to TLC. The best part of the match for me, was that after Finn Balor had won, the two men stood in the centre of the ring and they they shook hands and then displayed a sign of respect to each other. They both know that their match was unbelievable and that they blew the roof off the place. The two men rightly received this is awesome chants, deserved chants! The show of respect was amazing to watch, a true moment happened at the end of this dream match!

6. Jason Jordan defeated. Elias

Once again before this match, Elias came out and began to play his horrible music before Jason Jordan came back out and they had their match! With what has happened throughout the show between these two it makes me bored ahead of this match, taking away the normal buzz I would have had if Jason Jordan just competed in a normal match. The fact we went from a dream match buzz, to a frustrated mood was for me, not a great move! I am a huge fan of what Jason Jordan does, but the whole storyline he is involved with at the moment is not the best! The actual match was a decent one, with an ending that was a little flat. The reason it was flat, is because Elias had clearly got his shoulders up during the pinfall, well before the third count. A shocking moment for the match to be called, but Jason Jordan is victorious against Elias! A decent match, as Jordan Jordan is a brilliant wrestler, but a flat ending! At least this meant we did not see anymore from Elias at TLC.

5 on 3 handicap, Tables, Ladders & Chairs match

7. Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins & Kurt Angle   defeated.   Braun Strowman, Kane, The Miz, Cesaro & Sheamus  Dean Ambrose said a few weeks ago, that the Shield could take on as many men, 3, 4 or 5, and the Miz has held him to his word! The Miz has created a very good team! Due to a medical reasons, Roman Reigns is out, and the general manager Kurt Angle comes out with the Shield with his Shield jacket on. It gets off to a brilliant start, and the brawl starts with chaos all over the Target Center. From the word go, the match was intense and high flying, and Kurt Angle seemed to sit back slightly to begin with, and then he snapped and was on fire! Kurt Angle hit multiple suplexes, and then locked the ankle lock on Kane, but Braun Strowman then found his feet and weapons! Not long after this, Braun Strowman hit Kurt Angle with a running powerslam through a table at ringside and required medical attention urgently, and looked in a lot of pain. Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins came back fighting, but the numbers game was not ideal for the two members of the Shield. Kurt Angle was helped to his feet by medical personnel and taken out of the ringside area to receive attention. I would of thought Booker T would have been on Kurt Angle’s side having shared a ring together, but Booker T was strongly against Kurt Angle competing, but I and the WWE fans enjoyed it!

The five looked in control having been destroying Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins, but then Kane hit Braun Strowman with a chair, and before they could brawl, the attention focused back to the Shield. They tried to put Dean Ambrose through a table, but it did not break, but then the beast Braun Strowman had no issues putting Ambrose through a table! One thing we learnt in the build up to this match is the Miz follows what’s been said to the letter, and that is proven by when they backed up a garbage truck into the arena, and were thrown into it by the Miz’s team! They did come out of it fighting having jumped off the truck onto the Miz’s team!

Shortly after, Kane switched his allegiance, as he chokeslammed his team mate Braun Strowman through the stage, before covering Strowman into a pile of chairs! Kane, the one man wrecking crew, was destructive to everyone in the match and Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose continue to fight hard throughout. Braun Strowman came back from being chokeslammed through the stage, and he got back to his feet and threw the Miz, who was begging him to stay on his side, and then the whole of team Miz fight Braun Strowman outnumbering him, before throwing him into the garbage truck and letting it drive off without him. The Miz looked like he had second thoughts about what he had done, potentially because he knows what will happen when Braun comes back! After another 4 on 1 beat down to Rollins, they went to finish it with ease, but Ambrose broke it up and Kurt Angle then came back out and hit Sheamus with an Angle slam on the steel, an Angle Slam to Cesaro through the table! Kane went to tombstone the Olympic gold medalist but a the Shield speared Kane through the barricade. With the Miz laying in the middle of the ring, Ambrose, Rollins and Angle hit him with all of their finishers, before Kurt Angle called for the triple power bomb to the Miz, and Kurt Angle did Roman Reign’s signature scream before what Corey Graves called, the Olympic Shield Bomb to Mizz earned them the win.

WHAT A MATCH! An amazing match between the 8 in the main event, and I can’t wait to see Monday Night RAW to get the backlash of the massive main event! When Braun Strowman is back it is going to be frightening! What an amazing finish to the event!
