West of Scotland Cup (Round 1) •Station Bar vs. Colquhoun United Having been stopped by the weather, this weekend they will attempt to make this game happen, and for Station Bar to host Colquhoun United in the West of Scotland Cup first round. This will be a massive game for Colquhoun United on the road. The Sunday Central League club will be ready to begin what they hope will be a good cup run. •Overlee Partizans vs. Lanark United The in form and brilliant Overlee Partizans are at home to Lanark United as they hope to get the game on this time round after it being postponed last weekend. Overlee Partizans have been in brilliant form this season and lost, they have been on a roll, and show no signs of slowing down. They will be a side to watch in the whole of this competition but they have a tough test of Lanark United to begin with. League Cup (Round 1) •Albion vs. EastEnd Tower Top of the Premier 2 club Albion are at home to EastEnd Tower of the Premier 1. The two clubs have enjoyed a great start to the season, and neither have lost a game. Although this game is not in the league, but the League Cup, the two clubs will want to build upon their impressive starts in the league and turn that into a run in the cup. This match is as tough as they come in first round of the cup, and both clubs will relish the challenge. I spoke to Albion manager Brian Dornan, and he said, “Sunday's game is the toughest test we will face this season against a very much improved eastend tower team who have signed upwards of 9 new players for the upcoming season and like Albion have started the season well. just like every game we play all a ask of the boys is to go out and give it there best and work hard for each other” I managed to speak to EastEnd Tower and he said, “We're really looking forward to getting back into playing after 2 weeks off. It'll be a tough game against an Albion side who have started the league season off really well with 3 wins.” •Bengal Lancers vs. Broadwood Cycle The come back kings Bengal Lancers are looking to follow from a few weeks ago, turning around a 3-1 loss until a 4-3 win in 15 minutes! They have courage and fight and they are hosting Broadwood Cycle. Broadwood Cycle have been set to get their big win for many weeks, and last weekend they did just that. They will want to take confidence from last Sunday into this weekend. •Brunswick vs. Rutherglen Burgh Unbeaten Brunswick are the hosts this weekend, and they have won two out of two in the league, have conceded just one goal in the first two games. The Premier 2 club will have the tricky test of Rutherglen Burgh, a very free scoring side, that have scored 11 in their first couple of games, but they are coming up a very defensively strong Brunswick. A great prospect in the League Cup, this will be a brilliant match. •Budhill United vs. Carluke Victoria A tough result last weekend for Budhill United, but they will be ready to forget about league action for one weekend and have cup action on their minds. The Premier 2 side Budhill are at home to Carluke Victoria, who has been brilliant this season, and they had a stalemate last weekend with Glasgow Irish. Carluke Victoria will be pleased with the clean sheet, and will want to go one better as they challenge a good Budhill United team. •Castlemilk United vs. PFD PFD have had a brilliant start to the season, they have been excellent in the league, and this weekend they are on cup duty, as they will be facing Castlemilk United. Castlemilk United had a tough game last time out and they will put league action behind them. In a cup tie, it all hinges on the 90 minutes on the day, league positions and form goes out of the window. •Cranhill United vs. Provanmill Thistle A cracking game is set up for Cranhill United and Provanmill Thistle, two clubs that will be ready for League Cup action this weekend and will hope come out on top. The two clubs are going to be looking for a good run in the cup, as they take a break from league action. •Crownpoint United vs. Rosehill Thistle Last weekend, Rosehill Thistle were without a game after their home game was postponed, and this weekend they will come back hungrier than ever. They will be on the road to Premier 1 club, Crownpoint United. This match could go either way, it is going to be a brilliant classic cup tie between two very good clubs, this will be a brilliant game. •Eastend Rovers vs. Nethercraigs United At the start of the season, Eastend Rovers have enjoyed a lot of success, as the Championship 1 club that currently sit 3rd in the league. They have started well and will hope to add a cup run to their start! Nethercraigs United are on the road to Eastend Rovers and they have also enjoyed a brilliant opening stage of the season. They have been in fine goalscoring form and both clubs are ready for this clash and will give it their all and look to progress through to the next round of the cup. I managed to speak to Nethercraigs this weekend and they have said, “We as a team are excited for the start of the league cup. We know we are up against a good team but although we are just new and only played a handful of games we go all out and give them a good challenge. Bring on the nerries.” •East End Star vs. Summerston Amateurs A tough test for Summerston Amateurs this weekend, but that means they have nothing to lose in this cup tie against East End Star. Summerson Amateurs are a very good side, and they know that when it comes to the magic of the cup tie, the playing field is level and it is anyone’s game. East End Star have also enjoyed a good start to the season, and they are going to home to string together a good cup run. They are the hosts and manager Sean Smith will be up for this clash and will want to proceed through the rounds. This will be a brilliant match in store in the League Cup. I spoke to Summerston Ams and they have said, “Just know its gonna be a hard game eastend star made the leap upto the premier and have been holding there own by the results I've seen so it shows they are a good side and its going to be a tough test but if we play like we did sunday and not waste our chances anything could happen” •East Lane vs. Wellhouse Despite not being in the same league, the is just one place on the ladder between these two clubs. Wellhouse are in the Championship 2, and East Lane are top of the Championship 3 and they have been in exceptional form. East Lane won their match 1-0 last weekend, an uncommon win for them, as in the two games previous to that they scored 18 goals. They have been scoring at an incredible rate and they will hope to continue that at home this weekend. Wellhouse will hope to put league action out of their mind this weekend, and enjoy the magic of a cup tie. This is going to be a cracking encounter and the two clubs will give it their all to get through to the next round, in what I am sure will be an exciting encounter. This week I spoke to East Lane, and they have said, “This weekend we look to round off the perfect month with a solid 5 out of 5 wins! We're up against Wellhouse in the League cup, Wellhouse currently sit at the bottom of the Championship2 which is the division above us, they have yet to record a win in the league and we're under no illusions that they will be desperately looking for a win. After out last win over Queenslie we were disappointed at only winning by and Own Goal from a deflected cross so this week we're looking to regain our goal scoring form! The boys are well up for it and the downside of having such a big team is that cuts will surely have to be made. Training on Tuesday was intense and it shows that the boys are willing to challenge for their place in the squad and hopefully this weekend take the win which rounds of the perfect start to our first month in the Sunday Central.” I managed to speak to Wellhouse this week and they said, “Sunday’s match against east lane will be a tough match for us. I believe they have had some good results. But we go there confident after a good performance at the weekend. We might have 1 or 2 key players missing but we go there knowing that if we play well then we will cause them problems.” •EK Athletic vs. Drumchapel United There is going to be a brilliant encounter as the Premier 1 side Drumchapel United are on the road to East Kilbride Athletic. Drumchapel United have been in brilliant form having won two out of two, and they have scored 10 goals in them two games. Drumchapel United will take confidence into this cup tie, but they will know that anything can happen in a cup match, and they are up against a very good EK Athletic side. EK Athletic are also unbeaten and they are top of the table, scoring 20 goals in their first 4 league games and they sit top of the Championship 1. They will be hoping to continue their winning form this weekend against Drumchapel United, it will be a brilliant game, and will demonstrate the magic of the cup. I managed to speak to EK Athletic and they have said, “Big game this Sunday as we go up against a very good Drumchapel United side. It should be an exciting game and one we’re really looking forward to. All the boys are right up for this and are determined to get to the next round.” I also caught up with Drumchapel United this week, and they have said, “Expecting a very tough game against high flying EK Athletic in the 1st round of the league cup. A much improved performance from last Sunday is required from us.” •Glasgow Irish vs. Airdrie Albion It has been a great week already for Glasgow Irish they have been recruiting Kevin Gallagher and Stephen Cairns, to bolster an already very good team. They are at home to Airdrie Albion, who had a weekend off last weekend and they will be wanting to get back on the park and get back to winning ways. This will be a cracking encounter for both sides. •HSV vs. Cambuslang Football Academy After league success, Cambuslang Football Academy will feel confident going into this one with a lot of confidence on their side. They are on the road to HSV, who enjoyed a weekend off last Sunday, but the Championship 1, and HSV will be hungry to come out on top of this clash. This will be a brilliant match, one that could go either way! I managed to speak to Cambuslang Football Academy manager, Brian Dornan, “We look forward to the game ahead against HSV. We go into the tie full of confidence after last weeks result. We know nothing about our opponents and that’s the beauty of a cup tie. Research shows that HSV look like an attacking threat. The group games tell you that with a great record of around 40 odd goals scored and only 3 conceded. We will need to be at our best defensively to ensure we stop them scoring. I must say I look forward to this as HSV will be really up for this and we need to ensure we are ready to go and match them and take the game to them.” •Kilsyth Rovers vs. Calderside Last weekend’s victory for Kilsyth Rovers will give manager Colin Hughes and players a massive boost going into a tough home cup tie with Calderside. Kilsyth Rovers are the hosts and will want to assert their dominance, and continue a great run of victories in the league. Calderside do sit top of the Premiership 3 and have been in fine form! Both clubs will look to progress through to the next round of the League Cup. I spoke to Colin Hughes, manager of Kilsyth Rovers, and he said, “Looking forward to this game against Calderside, As there is no pressure on us at all, so we can just go out and enjoy ourselves, still looking to try and get the result, which I know my lads are more than capable of achieving”. •Newmains United vs. Sporting Pumas A tough result last weekend for Newmains United who will now want to put that game behind them and focus on League Cup action. They are on the road to the brilliant Sporting Pumas, who hold a fantastic league record. They did not lose a league game all last season, but Newmains United will take confidence in the fact they are at home and it is a cup tie. This one could go either way, but it is set to be a brilliant fixture. I spoke to Newmains United manager Paul McMahon and he has said, “After a tough couple of weeks, we go into this weekends league cup tie, against another heavyweight of the competition... first n foremost, we'll need to make sure we defend well, but we'll need to be brave in possession & more confident in front of goal, if we want to give ourselves a chance of being in the draw for the next round" •Polonia Glasgow vs. Glasgow Athletic These two clubs were involved in thrilling matches last weekend, and this weekend the two clubs will hope to continue in their goal scoring form and they will want to pick up the win, in the League Cup. Polonia Glasgow came out the wrong side of a 5-4 thriller in the Premiership 1, and Glasgow Athletic picked up a point in the Championship on the road after a 3-3 draw. This should be a brilliant high scoring cup tie. •Red Staars Baagrade vs. Queenslie A weekend of rest for Red Staars Baagrade last weekend as their game was postponed, but they will have rested up and be ready to come out of the blocks quickly in the League Cup. They are at home to Queenslie who have had a brilliant start to their season in the Championship 3. They had a tough result last weekend away from home, but that does not take away from a brilliant start to the season, they will be serious contenders in this match, they are in form. The week I spoke to Queenslie this week and they have said, “We’re looking forward to a good test from a team who are a few divisions above us. Going to go out and play our game and not let the the gap in divisions get to us” •Rumours AFC vs. Castlemilk Dynamo A tough test for Rumours AFC this weekend as they take on Premier 1 outfit, Castlemilk Dynamo, who have been in brilliant unbeaten league form. One thing for sure is, that when the magic of the cup comes round, league positions and divisions do not matter one bit, as it is just about who plays better during the 90 minutes on the day. Rumours did not have a game last weekend, and they will be looking to mark the brilliant Andrew Cunningham, who has been in excellent form. •Rutherglen Rovers vs. Haldane United Last time out Rutherglen Rovers had no game, but earned three points, as their game was forfeited by the opposition. They were happy with the points, but wanted to play, and this weekend they will be hungry to get on the field. They are at home to Haldane United, who were involved in a 3-3 thriller. The two clubs play in the same league, the Premiership 2, and they will both be up for the test this weekend in the League Cup. I managed to speak to Rutherglen Rovers assistant manager, Raymond Brady, and he said, "We take on Haldane United in the League Cup this Sunday, they are a strong side so we'll need to put in a good performance to progress in the cup." •South Lanarkshire Ravens vs. New Stevenston United Another clash in the league cup between two clubs in the Cutting Edge Engravers Championship! South Lanarkshire Ravens are the hosts and New Stevenston United are on the road will be looking to continue from last weekend’s impressive win and clean sheet. •Vale Rangers vs. Blantrye Albion With just one place between the two clubs, yet not in the same league...with Vale Rangers in Division 1 and Blantyre Albion are top of the division 2. A brilliant spectacle this weekend, the cup tie promises to be brilliant and one to watch. Blantyre Albion have been in good form, unbeaten in the league, and will hope to continue the form and Vale Rangers have had a tough start, many tough games and narrow results, but they will put the league out of the minds and focus on this weekend’s cup action. This week I spoke to Vale Rangers and they have said, “Huge game for us this weekend, on the back of a very disappointing run without a win. Boys have trained well and are right up for it. Don’t know much about our opposition but they’ve had a couple of decent results so we’re looking forward to the challenge.” Mulheron Scaffolding Services Premier 1 •Northend vs. Eastfield Star These two clubs are the only clubs in the Mulheron Scaffolding Services Premier 1 this weekend, and they will both be looking to register their first points of the season. Both teams will be up for this one, and the clubs will look to get an advantage for when league action is back in full swing. Mulheron Scaffolding Services Premier 3 •Sauchie vs. Gorbals United The only game in Mulheron Scaffolding Services Premier 3 this weekend is Sauchie at home to Gorbals United. Two good sides that will be looking to try and gain an advantage for when league action returns to full swing.
