They won at home to St Patrick’s FP this weekend, they were excellent and will be delighted by the clean sheet they have also picked up. They will climb the table and continue to impress week after week. St Pat’s themselves have been played excellent throughout the season. They are going to be hungry to get back on the park next weekend, this is going to be huge. >Jordanhill 3-1 Erskine What a win for Jordanhill this weekend, against one of the most in form sides in the Greater Glasgow League. Jordanhill have had a few weeks off, due to weather and they were up for this one this weekend. They picked up an excellent win, winning 3-1 at home. They were up against Erskine, a team that sit second in the table, and have been in exceptional form, a massive win for Jordanhill. Jordanhill will take a huge amount of confidence from this game and will be ready to get back on the park for more! I spoke to Jordanhill, and they have said, “Fantastic win for us against a solid side. We had 6 starting players missing. Ian Robinson and Ally Mcphee made their debuts for this season at centre midfield and right back respectively. Really good game, with chance after chance at both ends. We probably had the better first half, but we were under pressure 2nd. Goals from Martin Lavery and 2 from Toby Cole gave us a much needed boost. Credit to Erskine, who could have easily pulled level after being two down. Mark Reid the hero again between the sticks showing why he was October’s player of the month with save after save.”
Division 2 >FC Baillieston 2-2 Crookston Castle All square between two of Division 2’s most in form sides, as FC Baillieston and Crookston Castle come away with a point each. An excellent match, with the two sides playing well both this Saturday and through the season. They are two clubs are continuing to progress up the table, and this weekend, they will settle for a point each. Both clubs are going to be delighted to get back on the park and look to continue to pick up points! The Crookston Castle goals came from Brian Hepburn and Colin Price. I spoke to Crookston Castle and they had said, “we played a very well organised baliston team we fought well to go 2-1 up and the game ended up finishing 2-2 good match to play in.” >Third Lanark 3-0 John Street A perfect 10 for Third Lanark! They picked up their 10th win in their first 10 matches, making it the perfect start and winning 3-0. They will be delighted with the win, and they were up against a tough John Street side, that have been playing good football. John Street sit 6th in the table and they are going to be hoping to get back on the park next weekend and get back on track, and pick up a win. Third Lanark have been excellent all season long, and sit 11 points clear, and have a huge match next weekend against East Kilbride YM. Third Lanark are playing excellent football, and proven to be the team to beat. I spoke to John Street, and they have said, “third larnark are a good team move the ball about well and always a good challenge we have positives to take from our own performance and build on that moving forward” I also spoke to the a delighted David Ampleford, and he has said, “Delighted to hit 10/10 wins in league now. John Street were very organised but we played some lovely football and created some good chances. We knew after last weeks scare v Baillieston we’d have to be better. Marc Corlett scored direct from a corner to open the scoring. Sempy grabbed the 2nd and 3rd goals and his performance also saw him named MOTM. What a season he’s having. EKYM next week and we’ll need to make sure we are at our best.”
>Westerlands GG 3-2 East Kilbride YM An excellent win for Westerlands GG are an excellent team, and they going to be proud of a huge win against a very good East Kilbride YM team. East Kilbride YM have been one of the most in form sides this season, and have been in excellent form, but they came up against a very good Westerlands GG side, who now sit 4th in the table. They are an excellent side, and will want to mount a serious challenge, and this win this weekend, will have given them a great amount of confidence. Division 3 >Newshot 2-5 Helensburgh A huge win for the away club Helensburgh this weekend, bouncing back from last weekend’s away day, and they make it 4 wins in 5 matches, and are now just 3 points behind the leaders, and their opponents, Newshot. Newshot’s unbeaten run, did end this weekend, but this will make them hungrier and more up for getting on the park next weekend. They are going to be hoping to come back ready and fighting. Helensburgh will be pleased with a big win away from home this weekend, they are going to hope to continue their form. This was a huge game this season, two extremely good clubs in the league, and both clubs are going to be hoping to be at the top of the table come the business end of the season. A great win for Helensburgh, an excellent game. A quick note on this one, we want to wish, Papa Black, an extremely loyal Newshot fan, who was taken ill during today’s game, and I would like to wish Mr Black, a very speedy recovery, and the best of luck. Best of luck Papa Black. I spoke Helensburgh after this weekend’s win, and they have said, “Delighted with the win over the league leaders, great way to bounce back from what was a deserved loss last week. Responded well from being 2-0 down even tho we felt it was against the run of play. goals from Adam Sharkey, (2), Sinclair, Johansson and New. Good 3 points for us and, it turns out, for the league as well as it’s brought a number of teams back into the mix.” I also had chance to speak to Newshot, and they have said, “beat 5-2 by a helensburgh side who clearly wanted it more than we did today. was embarrasing to watch and an extremely uncharacteristic poor performance from newshot.a makeshift defence due to injury showed greatly. ross stevenson and ryan mullen with the goals. MOTM goes to kyle brown who set up both goals. we need to forget about today and move on to the next one. was a sore one to lose our unbeaten run in such a manner but we go again.” >Boswell 3-1 St Thomas A win for Boswell, they have been in excellent form, and a win at home this weekend. St Thomas have had a tough time as of late, they were up against a very good side this time out in Boswell, and they are going to be hoping to bounce back to winning ways very soon. Boswell are climbing the table, they sit 5th in the league, and will hoping to continue to pick up wins and progressing up the table. An excellent win for Boswell. The Boswell scorers were Sean Donnelly who scored 2 and a goal once again for man of the month, Steven Odunewu. I spoke to Boswell and they have said, “Had a early dilemma after signing 2 keepers I still had to play in goals with 2 broken ribs and a badly swollen ankle as one of the keepers was in hospital and the other hadn’t been released yet from his old team. We tried a new formation out today and worked well 2-0 up at half time could have been a lot more but their keeper was playing a blinder scored again in the second half made changes switched off and they got a consolation goal. But finally another game another win now have a road trip to face Carradale.”
