Greater Glasgow Preview: Huge Day for Clubs Flying the Flag in the Cup and Great league Action
Scottish Cup (Round 4)
>Dynamo East Kilbride vs. Morgan Academy FP’s
One of the most in form teams in the Greater Glasgow League, Dynamo East Kilbride, are going to be one of the two clubs flying the flag for the league in the 4th Round of the Scottish Cup. They are set to play Morgan Academy FP’s, a team that play in the MAFA, and they are going to be up for this huge match. Dynamo East Kilbride have enjoyed an excellent season, and Derek Bell’s men are going to up for what is going to be tough challenge. They know this will be a hard game, but they will be up for what is going to be a massive opportunity. Dynamo East Kilbride will have confidence from their recent performance, the fact they are at home and of course, their ability to come from behind to pick up wins, that they have proven so many times this season. This is a huge match for the club, they are going to be excited for it.
I managed to speak to Dynamo East Kilbride boss, Derek, and he has said, "This Saturday we are in Scottish cup duty at home v Morgan Academy looking to get into the 5th round for the 1st time in 9years !!! Couple of guys out thru work but the goal scoring machine William stalker is fit and well and hopefully he continues his goal scoring streak it’s a challenge we will relish"
>Glenburn Athletic vs. FC Baillieston
The other side of the Greater Glasgow League that will be in the Scottish Cup fourth round, is FC Baillieston and they will know how big this occasion is. They are going to up for the challenge and the away day, as they travel to Glenburn Athletic of the P&D. A huge clash between two good clubs, and FC Baillieston, an in form side, are going to be hoping to continue a run of form and pick up a massive victory, and progress through to the next round of the cup.
Division 1
>Calderglen vs. Westerlands A
The home team, Calderglen are going to be hoping to pick up their first win of the season this weekend, as they host Westerlands A, a good side, that sit 7th in the table. The visitors know a win can push them up the table further, a very tight league, and the university based outfit are going to be up for the challenge. A big and important game for both clubs.
>Eaglesham vs. Eastwood Parkmount A
One of the most in form clubs in the league this season, has been Eastwood Parkmount A, as they keep picking up impressive wins, and currently sit third in the table. They are just a point behind second placed Erskine, and Eastwood Parkmont have a game in hand. They will hope to pick up an important win, away to Eaglesham this weekend, climb the table and push for top spot. They know they must beat Eaglesham this weekend, to stay hot on the heels of both Erskine and leaders Newton Vale. Eastwood Parkmount A will know it is a tough place to go, as Eaglesham have won 2 out of their 3 league game, at home. They have made their home ground a tough place for visitors get results, and they will be hoping this will be the case on Saturday.
>Erskine vs. Glasgow University A
Second placed Erskine are at home to Glasgow University A this weekend, and they are going to be up for the challenge. Erskine remain in second place, and will hope to be there on Saturday Night too, and still pushing for top spot. They are at home this weekend, and will take that are a massive positive, as they have won all 4 of their 4 home league games. Glasgow University A are 8th in the table, and will know they are in for a tough game, but on their day, they are capable of beating anyone, a great game in store.
>Jordanhill vs. St. Patrick’s FP
An excellent win for Jordanhill last weekend, proving how dangerous they can be and that they can beat anyone on their day, and this weekend they host St. Patrick’s FP. They are going to be hoping to continue on from last weekend’s excellent performance and push for three more points. St Patrick’s FP sit 5th in the table, and are going to be hoping to pick up all three points, to continue their rise up the league. Jordanhill will be hoping to take up, from exactly where they left off, last Saturday, after a huge win.
I spoke to Iain Brown of Jordanhill and he said, "Phenomenal win last week! However, we are terrible for playing well one week then awful the next. We welcome a st pats team we are have always struggled against in the past. Should be a great game!"
>Strathclyde University vs. Newton Vale
Top of the table, and flying high is the situation for Newton Vale, Sean Donaghy’s men, have been in exceptional form, all season long and they travel to Strathclyde University this weekend, to hope for more of the same. The university outfit are going to be quick and strong as ever, they are a dangerous side, and will be a tough one for the brilliant Newton Vale. Newton Vale do sit 6 points clear at the top of the table, and show no signs of giving up their unbeaten run this season. They have played 8, drawn 1 and won a fantastic 7 matches. A brilliant side that are going to be dangerous all season, this will be a good game.
Division 2
>Crookston Castle vs. John Street
The hosts, Crookston Castle have enjoyed an exceptional start to the season, they are currently second in the table, they have been in fantastic form, and will be ready for this Saturday, and will be hungry for the result. They are at home to a tough side, in John Street, who have also had a good start and sit 6th in the table. They are going to be up for this test, and I can predict this is going to be a great game, fiercly contested by two very good football clubs.
I spoke to John Street, and they have said, "Away to 2nd in the league time to start turning performances in to results and getting points"
>Eastwood Parkmount B vs. Ashvale Victoria
Two clubs with just a point between them are set to go head to head on Saturday. Eastwood Parkmount B sit a point ahead, but with six games in hand this weekend. Ashvale Victoria are going to be up for the contest as well as against a very good Eastwood Parkmount B side. Two good sides going head to head.
>Glasgow University B vs. Colquhoun United
The university side are home to Colquhoun United, a side that should not be taken for their league position. They are a good side that have had a lot of people say how good they are, and how well they have played, and they will be up for this contest. This is going to be an excellent match, and it could go either way. Colquhoun United are going to be up for this and hungry for all three points.
>Third Lanark vs. East Kilbride YM
A huge clash in division 2 of the Greater Glasgow league this weekend, as two very good sides are going to be up for this massive clash, that may have huge implications come the business end of the season. Third Lanark have won their first ten matches this season, as great start to the season, and David Ampleford's men are going to hoping for a win. The visitors are East Kilbride YM, a side that have been excellent at the start of the season, they know the importance of this match and will be looking forward to this match. They had a tough result to take last weekend, this will only make them hungrier for a result. This is going to be a massive game between two excellent football clubs.
I spoke to David Ampleford, manager of Third Lanark, and he has said, "We played well last weekend and we’ll need to do the same again this weekend. Back on 3G again which means both teams will look to get their usual game on the go. We’ll just be looking to get ours on better."
I also had chance to speak to East Kilbride YM manager, Graeme Robertson, and he has said, "Looking forward to Saturdays game with Third Lanark. They are going great at the top of the league and we will need to play well to win this game. If we have aspirations of still challenging for the title then we must win on Saturday. We hope to put two poor results behind us and give a much better performance on Saturday."
>Westerlands GG vs. North Kelvin Sports
Another tough test for North Kelvin Sports this weekend as they travel to unversity based side, Westerlands GG. They had had a tough start and looking for the first win of the league campaign. They are up against a good Westerlands GG side, that will be up for this league game.
Division 3
>Busby vs. St Thomas
Two clubs that are going to be looking to register a big win this weekend, and push them up the table. Two clubs that have struggled at the beginning of this season will be up for this contest, and will both know the importance of the game.
>Carradale vs. Boswell
Two clubs that sit level on points in division 3 are Carradale and Boswell, both clubs have won three games, and are currently in good form. This match is an important one for both clubs, with some clubs playing in the cup, a win for either of these sides, can potentially find themselves second in the table, should other results and goal difference go their way. Boswell will be the side making the long trip to Campbeltown this weekend, a long journey, and they will hope to come back with all three points. Carradale are a good side, and will make this a very tough test, this will be a good match.
This week, I spoke to Boswell captain, Tam Daly and they have said, "We are looking to brake hoodoo on long trips and looking to put ourselfs bk in the title race before the winter break."
Boswell added, "Plus looking for another big performance from everyone so we can finish the first half of the season on a high and keep the pressure on the teams above MTB"
>Westcliff vs. South Lochaber Thistle
South Lochaber Thistle are on the road this weekend too Westcliff, and they are going to be up for the challenge. Westcliff are a side, capable of beating anyone on their day and have picked up some excellent wins this season. South Lochaber Thistle have enjoyed a good start to the season, they currently sit third in the table and have been in good form. Alan Gray's men will hope to continue a good start and will be up for this weekend's games.
I amanged to speak to South Lochaber Thistle this weekend, and they have said, "SLT will be making the trip south to Westcliffe this weekend with a strong team. After the weather put pay to our last game, we’ll be aiming to get back to winning ways.”
President’s League Cup Section 3
>Rannoch vs. Helensburgh
The in form and high flying in the league, Helensburgh are on the road this weekend. They have a huge away day in the President's League Cup this Saturday against Rannoch. The hosts will be hoping they can utilise home team advantage, and they will be up for this huge cup clash. A great win last weekend for Helensburgh is something that will give them a great amount of confidence going into this cup tie.
I managed to speak to Helensburgh this weekend, and they have said, "Back to Cup duty for us as we make the journey to Bearsden to play Rannoch. Won’t be easy, never is against higher league opposition but confidence is back on track after last weeks win. Couple of injuries that will keep a few players out of selection but a strong squad none the less"
President’s League Cup Section 5
>Bellaire vs. Newshot
The very good Bellaire are the hosts in this one, a huge Section 5 game between two very good sides. Newshot have been in good form all season long, and this weekend they are going to be hoping to come back from last weekend's result and I think it will just make them hungrier for success and for a win, and they will be up this huge cup tie. This is going to be a brilliant match cup match.
