Greater Glasgow League Round Up: Newton Vale & Third Lanark Remain Unbeaten, Boswell Boys Are Ba

Division 1

>Newton Vale 6-1 Dynamo East Kilbride

Another fantastic win for the hosts Newton Vale, they ran out 6-1 winners this over an in form club Dynamo East Kilbride. Newton Vale have been in fantastic form this season, and have been making a major statement week after week, and they sit top of the table, and will hope to further their lead next weekend, in the last game before the Christmas break.

They were clinical today, against a very good side, they played fantastic football, with man of the match being a very close call between Kieran Zeb and Darren Hampson, two players that add to the quality in the Newton Vale squad. Kieran Zeb came off the bench to hit the net and score this weekend, but it was Martin Jones, and hattrick hero, Darren Hampson who lead the way in front of goal. Darren Hampson scored three goals, and was backed up by Martin Jones, who scored two of his own. A fantastic display, and three very good players on the score sheet, supported by the fantastic McFarlane's.

Of course, at the back, Newton Vale were brilliant once again, Ryan Millar, Thomas Houston, James McCaig and Paul Mulholland and keeper David McKegney, a group of players, that have only conceded 9 goals in their opening 10 league games, a fantastic record, one they should be very proud of! Today's win, caps a fantastic start to the season, and they will be hoping for more of the same next weekend! A brilliant Newton Vale side will be proud of Saturday's win, and ready for their next challenge.

Dynamo East Kilbride were coming off an incredible Scottish Cup victory and they are going to be hoping to bounce back to winning ways before the Christmas break. They will be hungry and ready to get back on the park and back to winning ways. Derek Bell has a very strong side, and they will be a team to look out as they return for their last game before the break.

I managed to speak to Newton Vale, and they have said, "Yesterday’s match never got off to the best start losing C.Fellows early on and also conceding a goal in the first 10 minutes but our team showed great character to bounce back from this. A Darren Hampson double had us back in the lead and the second is definitely a contender for goal of the season as it shot into the top corner from outside the box. Kieran Zeb then got in on the action to make it 3-1 with a lovely left footed finish and then Hampson finished off his hat rick with a brave header. 4-1.

M.jones then scored 2 to make it 6-1 and finish off a brilliant day. 6 great goals today but some brilliant football played at times which we are delighted with!"

>Eastwood Parkmount A 3-5 Erskine

A hugely important match between the two in form Greater Glasgow teams. The win goes to Erskine, in a fantastic battle, featuring eight goals. The win for Erskine means that they remain second in the top division, and are hot on the heels of Newton Vale, and will hope to pick up a big win next weekend, as they go into the last game before the Christmas break, full of confidence. Eastwood Parkmount A are a fantastic team however, and they will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways as soon as possible.

>Westerlands A 0-2 Strathclyde University

A fantastic win for the excellent Strathclyde University, as they beat another university based side, in Westerlands A. Division 2

>East Kilbride YM 1-0 Glasgow University B

The hosts, East Kilbride YM return to winning ways this weekend, as they picked up an important 1-0 win at home to Glasgow University B in Division 2. Last weekend, Graeme Robertson’s East Kilbride YM drew with top of the table and high flying Third Lanark, a great game, and a win this weekend. They were against Glasgow University B, a young and strong side, but East Kilbride come away with the all important three points, and a clean sheet.

East Kilbride YM remain second in the table, on Saturday night, they will be pleased, they remain hot on the heels of the current leaders, they will hope to continue picking up three points, and will hope to close the gap on Third Lanark next weekend, and head into the Christmas break closer to top spot. EKYM are a fantastic side, that will keep doing what they are doing, and continue to pick up points.

>FC Baillieston 7-2 Westerlands GG

Nine goals in this one, and the in form and high flying FC Baillieston come away with the win. They will be pleased to pick up another win and scoring seven goals, as they continue to climb the table. FC Baillieston are coming off a huge cup win last weekend in the Scottish Cup, an outstanding achievement, and another huge win this weekend.

>Third Lanark 6-0 Eastwood Parkmount B

The unbeaten run continues! Third Lanark continue to be unbeaten after another massive win this weekend, they made it 11 wins, in their opening 12 games, as they head towards the final game of the 2017 with high spirits in the hope to spend Christmas with a zero in the lose column.

The brilliant Alan Semple was once again, at his best as usual, proving his class, and picked up his 11th man of the match award this weekend. Semple also bagged himself a brace, scoring two great goals, one of them a contender for goal of the season. Alan Semple is one to watch, and will be absolutely key to Third Lanark’s second part of the season. Striker, Josh Graham was in fine goalscoring form once again, scoring two good goals. The other scorers were Luke Pye and the brilliant winger Qaasim Ali.

Eastwood Parkmount B will be hoping to get back to winning ways in the very near future, and hopefully before Christmas break. Third Lanark will be delighted once again with a fantastic result, and will be ready for the next challenge they are up against!

Third Lanark have been fantastic and they are 11 points clear at the top of the table. They will remain top of the table going into the Christmas break, and will hope to continue after the break in this fine form.

I spoke to a proud and delighted Third Lanark manager, David Ampleford, and he said, “We were absolutely excellent today. We dominated from the first minute and reduced Eastwood to some rather hopeful long range shots in the first half. We were 3-0 up at half time.

In the 2nd half, Eastwood came out all fired up and for 5 minutes, played very well but our 4th goal reduced their enthusiasm. We were very comfortable and moved the ball very well. We were able to give all 4 subs soma decent game time today and we had cracking energy on the bench.

It’s a pity we didn’t have the iPad today as Sempy’s 2nd goal had goal of the season written all over it.

He’s on fire right now and deserved his MOTM. His 11th MOTM of the season. Wow.”

>Boswell 2-0 Westcliff

An excellent win for the boys from Boswell this weekend, they picked up a 2-0 win over a good Westcliff side, and Boswell will be delighted with how their players performed. They take all three points, and a clean sheet from this game, one that was very much deserved for super shot stopper, Robbie Sutherley, putting in a fantastic performance, with a clean sheet to show for it. A very good Boswell side, that includes, superstar Steven Odunewu, the beast at the back, Sunil Chatterjee, man of the match Curtis McGurn, who Boswell will be pleased with his decision to return to playing football this year. Another star, was the brilliant Ryan McAnenay, who has joined from St Thomas, and was fantastic, breaking the deadlock, and giving Boswell the advantage. The win was sealed in the first and only touch from Tam Daly, finishing in style, and confirming three huge points for his club.

A fantastic win for Boswell, a side that have been in fine form and will take a lot of confidence going into their last game before Christmas. They will be delighted with the talent of new signing Ryan McAnenay, a man that made chances, and scored a very good goal, and one to watch, and he combines with McGurn and Odunewu, who sit behind him. They will enjoy playing the ball to the lively energetic striker, always hungry to get on the end of the ball.

A tough day for Westcliff, they came up against a very tough side, and will want to put this one behind them, and return to winning ways. A wonderful day out for Boswell, they will be delighted with taking all three point, and excited to get back on the park next weekend.

I spoke to a delighted Boswell, and they have said, "Great solid and hard fought 3 points.

Could not fault anyone except Steven Odunewu as he frustrated his fellow teammates from not passing and putting away chance after chance. But still got a cheeky assist with a cheeky backheell reverse pass to give Ryan McAnenay his debut goal.

Keeper Robbie Sutherley pulled off 3 cracking saves one that looked to have him beaten but somehow got his hand up to tip it over the bar and a crucial block when there striker had latched on to cross and Robbie blocked and the defence cleared. Defence was totally solid today .

And with 5mins to go Bobo sends on a reluctant Tam Daly who with his only touch was to put the ball in the net from a crazy angle. MTB"

2. Charles Keshi

>Helensburgh 1-5 Bellaire

A tough day for Helensburgh who have been one of the most in form sides in the league, but they came up against an outstanding Bellaire side. The lead was taken by Bellaire, 18 minutes in, and they doubled that lead after 28 minutes. Half time came around, and Bellaire were 2-0 up, and they made it three just before the hour mark. A tough test lay ahead for Helensburgh, it a goal from substitute Owen Howells will have brightened the spirits of Helensburgh, making it 3-1 to Bellaire with 25 minutes left on the clock. After this, Belliare continued where they left off in the first half and scored two more, and won this game 5-1.

This is a massive win for Bellaire, who will be delighted by it, they know they beat a very good Helensburgh team this weekend in a tough contest. Helensburgh will put this one behind them, and focus their full attention on next weekend, and going into the Christmas Break on a high note, and return to winning ways. They are a fantastic team, and they will be bouncing back and hungry to get back on the park.

I managed to speak to Helensburgh, and they have said, "Horrible performance from us today against a Bellaire team playing with far more determination than us. Couple of defensive mistakes coupled with a couple of goals we could argue were offside but when they got the advantage they punished us.

Hey ho, such is the way of these things. Sure we’ll bounce back"
