Sunday Central Round Up: Cup Delight For Eastwood Mearns In A Weeked Of Bad Weather
Sunday Trophy
>Eastwood Mearns 4-2 Killie Athletic
A delighted Eastwood Mearns this weekend, a club that has been going for just eight months proved why they are already one of the top sides, and they make history once again. Eastwood Mearns have been fantastic and they continue pick up important wins, and progress in cups, a truly great start, and something that will please the excellent manager, Steven Sharp. He has played a huge part in the success of the football club, and will be a key figure in it continuing to grow and make major headlines, like they have done this weekend, his passion is for all to see.
They beat Killie Athletic, 4-2 this weekend, and will pleased and full of confidence going into their upcoming matches, and will hope to hit the ground running in the new year and continue their brilliant form. A club that has achieved so much in such a short space of time, will be ready for their next challenge, and will be ready for what’s to come.
This Sunday they won, 4-2, but they will be excited to have played and got through to the next round, and will be delighted by that. A side to look out for, they have been fantastic this year.
A exceptional win for Eastwood Mearns, they will be ready for their next challenge, and will be delighted by this weekend’s win.
I spoke to a delighted Steven Sharp after a fantastic win, and he has said, “With the game being postponed the week before personally I was itching for the game to go ahead so it was a relief to hear game on. We were down 4/5 players going into this one but having said that as always the team spirit we have is fantastic and the lads certainly rose to the occasion. We prepared as we always do for the Scottish Cup meet early and have breakfast as a team and discuss our game plan. Huge credit to my players for their efforts in what was pretty difficult conditions to play in. We went a goal down but my players got the heads up, got on with it and done what was needed to get back into the game and book our place in the last 16. If I’m totally honest we never really played to our potential but if that’s us not playing great and getting such an important result then I’ll take it again in the next round. It’s always the aim to still be in the Scottish after Christmas no matter what level you are at and we are delighted to still be in the competition which is a massive achievement with us only forming 8 months ago. We all savoured the moment but we now move on and look forward to a short break at the festive period before we get back into working hard and back into league business in 2018.”

Crownpoint United scored an impressive 5 goals, a huge first win of the season, and they will be pleased to get three points on the board. They will be take a lot of confidence into their last game before the Christmas break last weekend.
A fantastic win for Crownpoint United, and goals from Nico Petrucci and Chris Chalmers, as well as own goal, were vital for the visitors. But it was the striker, Alan Duncan who led the way with a fantastic double, and lead his side to a win this weekend. The man of the match award was split between two men for Crownpoint United. The manager awarded man of the match to the impressive centre half, Marco Kinnaird, and the referee awarded it to, central midfielder, Philip Morrison.
This was a very important win for Crownpoint United, they will be proud of it, and take a lot of confidence forward with them. A tough day out for Eastfield Star, who will hope to bounce back to winning ways, before the Christmas break, but a huge win for Crownpoint United.
I spoke to Crownpoint United, and they have said, "done our best to give eastfield the points by going a goal down after 48 seconds but the boys battled well and shot themselves into a 4-1 lead.
We missed chance after chance to bury the game and credit to eastfield the brought the game back to 4-3 but it would have been an injustice had we not took the 3 points today."
