Greater Glasgow & Sunday Central League: A Round Up of this Weekend’s Games
Greater Glasgow League Division 3 >Bellaire 1-2 Newshot Only the one game on Saturday from the Greater Glasgow League, and it saw Newshot come out on top and win the final game of 2017. They will be delighted by the win, a huge result, and an important three point in the cold of December. They end 2017 top of the table, a fantastic achievement, in a very tight league, winning 6 out of their 7 games. This weekend they beat second placed Bellaire, adding to the importance of this fixture. Newshot know Bellaire have a game in hand, but they will be confident that they have a 5 point lead at the top of the table. They will go into the Christmas break, in high spirits and proud of their win, taking confidence from it, for when they return to action. Sunday Central Mulheron Scaffolding Services Premiership 1 >Cranhill United 3-1 Eastend Tower An important win for Crownpoint United, they finish 2017 sitting 5th placed in the top division of the Sunday Central. They won 3-1 at home to Eastend Tower, who are in second place. A huge win against a team that have been in fantastic form for Cranhill United. Eastend Tower will look to put this one behind them, enjoy their Christmas break, and bounce back to winning ways in the new year. Despite three places between the two clubs, they do sit level on points, which just shows how tight and brilliant this league is. Mulheron Scaffolding Services Premiership 3 >Sauchie 1-2 Cambuslang Football Academy Important win for the visitors Cambuslang Football Academy, picking up a win before the break, giving them an advantage going into the new year. They won 2-1 away from home against a brilliant Sauchie side, that have enjoyed great form themselves. Sauchie now sit a point behind Cambuslang, but they know they will bounce back in style in the new year, and return to winning ways. Sauchie are a team to look out for, this result will make them hungry to bounce back, and a win that Cambuslang Football Academy can be proud of. Cutting Edge Engravers Championship 2 >Bardykes Rovers 3-4 Newmains United A brilliant top of the table clash between first and second this weekend. Newmains United came out on top of the game, they did got 2-0 up, but the end result being a 4-3 win against Bardykes Rovers. There is just 1 point in it between the two clubs, they have both played the same amount of games, and they will be aware that Glasgow Star have a game in hand on them, and they sit 2 points from top of the table. This will not worry the clubs this side of the new year. Bardykes Rovers sit on 16 points, and Newmains United on 17. This is a highlight video of this game. >Blantyre Albion 2-3 Glasgow Star Excellent win for the in form, Glasgow Star, who won 3-2 against Blantyre Albion. Glasgow Star are two points behind top of the table, and have a game in hand on the top to clubs currently. They know this puts them in a strong position, and they will be hoping to hit the ground running in the new year, and continue to impress when league action resumes. Blantyre Albion have been brilliant all season long also, and sit just 4 points behind Glasgow Star, and fourth in the table, the two clubs will be hoping to have a good 2018, following on from fantastic 2017’s. Top of the table, Queenslie will be aware of the threat and the games in hand that East Lane pose on them, but they will go about their business in the fine form they have been showing. They were at home, and come away with a point, but they will be pleased with the three goals. Nethercraigs came up against a brilliant top of the table side, Queenslie, coming away with a point. Two excellent clubs, and they will both be hoping to take confidence from their impressive scoring records, and bounce back to winning ways.
