Despite, being a goal down, that did not stop Southside United, if anything making them hungrier, and they showed determination, and came away win the game 2-1. A fantastic achievement from Southside United and they should be very proud of it. They showed incredible character to come from behind and pick up a win, especially with the stakes so high, in a prestigious cup competition. The Southside United goals were scored by Duffy and McNicol, for Southside United. The hosts will now look forward to their next tie, they have a lot talent in the ranks, momentum and confidence going into the Glasgow Colleges league, as we head towards the business end of the season. I managed to speak to a delighted Cambuslang United, and they have said, “A poor first half from Camby seen us go in 3-2 at the break, second half much better, conceded a penalty early on to make it 3-3 but scored two quick goals shortly after which put us in control. Happy with the result especially as we had a depleted squad and only 2 subs due to players having other commitments (the game was only scheduled for 6th late in December due to it being called off the last 2 available weeks in December)” River Nevis 0-3 Rosehill United A win for the division 2 club Rosehill United this weekend as they won 3-0 over River Nevis. Two excellent clubs, that are going to be ready for returning league action. Charity Match Royal Union 10-1 Rangers FFIT A charity match this weekend for Royal Union. The clubs observed a minutes silence for 66 souls who went to a football match and never returned home. A fantastic reason to honour and remember in a great game, played in brilliant spirits. Royal Union will be looking forward to a return to league action very soon, but hey have ran off the Christmas break in this charity match. Royal Union will be pleased to have scored 10 goals this weekend, and now hope that this gives them confidence going into next weekend’s league return. I managed to speak to Royal Union, and they said, “Happy to get the lads back out working. Sloppy in parts but that might have been a mixture of returning from a break and attitude towards playing a team made up mostly of lads just looking to keep fit. Lovely poignant moment pre-match as both sides fell silent for 66 souls who went to a football match never to return home and a nice afternoon at our sponsors The Union Bar post match. Bring on a return to the business end next week!”
Friendly Match Lokomotiv Glasgow 3-2 Gryffe Excellent win in friendly action for Lokomotiv Glasgow as they won 3-2, a great achievement and something that they will take with great confidence into their league return. Friendly or not, a Win is a win, and they have ran off the Christmas cobwebs. 2017 was a cracking year for the club, and they are hoping that 2018 is going to emulate that. A fantastic start to proceedings as they beat a good side. Fantastic win for Lokomotiv Glasgow; my prediction is there is a lot more wins ahead of this fantastic side. I managed to get a quote from Lokomotiv Glasgow gaffer Ross Milne "Despite yesterday being just a friendly I was delighted with the attitude of my players. They pressed hard for the full 90 minutes against a very good Gryffe team and ultimately we could and should have scored a few more. There were definite signs of festive rust with both teams having bean out of action for over a month but I'm delighted to see the guys pick up again from where we left off in 2017. We resume league fixtures this coming weekend, so we'll training will be tough this week to ensure we're prepared to build on our bright start this season in the GCFA division 1." Ian
