Cambria 4-0 Dynamo East Kilbride

Fantastic win at home for Cambria in the league this weekend, they picked up an impressive 4-0 win at home to an excellent Dynamo East Kilbride side. Cambria enjoyed an excellent 2017, and have started 2018 in great fashion, and will be pleased with this win. Dynamo East Kilbride will know they were in a very tough one today, and will look to put this result out of their mind and they are a good side that will bounce back very soon.

The Cambria goals came from MacInnes, Law, and the star of the show, Kev MacDonald, who scored twice and was awarded the man of the match award at the end of the match this Saturday. Two very strong sides that are going to be the teams to watch this year, with exciting things ahead. Eastwood Parkmount A 1-3 Newton Vale

Another win for Newton Vale, who continue to play fantastic football, and most importantly, pick up three points. They have been on fire this season, being unstoppable in 2017, and looking to continue in the same form in 2018. Newton Vale's excellent Kieran Zeb got the ball rolling this weekend, as he scored their first, before Kevin McFarlane and Martin Jones put the game out of reach, picking up the all important three points.

Newton Vale remain top of the table, in the driver's seat and they are not going to be looking to give that spot up anytime soon, if at all. They will take every game as it comes, but they are a fantastic team that will continue to pick up great wins.

Eastwood Parkmount A will have been expecting a tough game against the unbeaten Newton Vale, and that is exactly what they got. They will be ready for their next challenge, as will Newton Vale, who will hope to continue this run.

Eastwood Parkmount B sit 6th in the table, but they have a lot of games in hand on a few of the teams above them, they pick up a great win away from home and hope this will start their run towards the top of division 2.

Third Lanark 5-0 Colquhoun United

Excellent win for Third Lanark this weekend as they win 5-0 at home to Colquhoun United. Third Lanark’s Marc Corlett scored one of the best goals seen for a very long time. Third Lanark remain unbeaten at the top of the table, they have been in brilliant form, and they have a pleased manager in David Ampleford. This strike from Marc Corlett was just one of two goals scored by the midfield maestro, and he was backed up by Robbie Sinclair, Josh Graham and of course, superstar, Alan Semple, who also picked up another man of the match award.

Third Lanark will be delighted with their seventh clean sheet, coming this weekend, they ended an incredible 2017 on a high note and manager David Ampleford will hope this will continue into 2018, a fantastic team that sit top of the table, and unbeaten.

Third Lanark starting line up: Scott, Galbraith, McIntyre ©, O’Brien, Black, Corlett, Gemmell, Semple, Ali, Sinclair, Graham.

I also spoke to Third Lanark Manager, David Ampleford and he said, “Delighted. 10 days ago we played in a friendly where I had players being sick on the pitch haha. Today we looked sharp and we were very professional in our approach. Its was a bit of a passing and possession masterclass. We were just brilliant today. We had managed to get in and score an early couple of goals. Colquhoun changed formation and also their tactics and were able to carve out a couple of chances. They were awarded a penalty when we were 2-0 up and that would have changed the course of the game. We wen’t 3-0 up shortly after they failed to take the opportunity. All the best to Colquhoun for the rest of the season.”

Westerlands G.G. 2-6 Crookston Castle

Crookston Castle were in their usual fantastic form this weekend, as they put 6 past Westerlands GG. They scored 6 as they continue to be clinical in front of goal, and they sit third in the table. Crookston Castle have games in hand on the two front runners, as they will push towards top spot as we race towards the business end of the season.

GGPAFL Division 3

Bellaire 4-2 Boswell

A tough day out for Boswell at Bellaire this weekend. With the absence of the fantastic Steven Odunewu out of action, they travelled to Bellaire. A very cold day and the ice cold rain coming down, a tough game for Boswell. A brilliant performance from man of the match Kevin Forsyth this weekend, Boswell will hope to bounce back to winning ways very soon.

Boswell starting line up: 1 Robert Sutherley, 2 Andy Cavanagh, 3 Danny Taylor, 4 Sunil Chatterjee, 5 James Ward, 6 Hunter, 7 Sean Donnelly, 8 Kev Forsyth, 9 Curtis McGurn, 10 Ben Feathers, 11 Nick Ikunda, 12 Bobo, 13 Jason Ballingall, 14 Steven Swan, 15 Dylan Cartick, 16 Tam Daly.

Boswell have said, “no Steven Odunewu and keeper kicking ball out straight to the striker at 2-2 Park started cutting up and frozen temps and ice cold rain referee gave KEVIN Forsyth Man of the Match after some nice football ball that sent him thru 1 on 1 with the keeper and as the keeper came diving to his feet he cheekily chipped it over him. Other goal scorer was also KEVIN Forsyth”

Helensburgh 0-2 Newshot

A win for Newshot away at Helensburgh this weekend. They have been in fine form all season long, and the league leaders pick up another win, to kickstart 2018. Helensburgh enjoyed an excellent 2017 also, and they are going to be hoping to put this one behind them and kick on for a great year. Three more points for Newshot, and Helensburgh will be bouncing back in the weeks to come. These are two clubs that are going to be near or at the top of the table come the business end of the season.

The Newshot goals came from Ross Stevenson who struck in the first half, and Kyle Brown scored with 2 minutes to go, as well as setting up a goal. Man of the match, Brad Jones was awarded man of the match at the end of the game, a great achievement and a fantastic win for Newshot.

I managed to speak to Helensburgh and they have said, “A tight game with hardly anything between the teams. We missed a glorious chance with the striker through one on one but dragged his shot wide. They had one chance just before half time and the looping header beat the keeper. Second half nothing between the teams but at the death when we should have fired the ball in from a free kick to try for a leveller we screwed it up which allowed Newshot to break up the park” Helensburgh starting line up: O’Brien, Meader, Johns, Makeham, Howells, Phipps, Black, Johannson, Park, Jeffrey, Tadlock, A Sharkey, K Sharkey, Martin

South Lochaber Thistle 2-2 Busby

All square, with the honours even between South Lochaber Thistle as they drew 2-2 with Busby. A cracking encounter between two very good division 2 clubs as the points are shared. Busby will know they went away to a very good side this weekend, and come away with a point. South Lochaber Thistle are going to be a side to watch this year, next weekend they will hope to claim all three points.

I spoke to South Lochaber Thistle, and they have said, “SLT hosted Busby for our first home game of the new year but it was bad old habits in defence which cost us as well let slip a 2-0 lead to draw, something particularly sickening was to lose a 90th minute equaliser. Congratulations to Busby who showed real heart for the fight back and it was nice to see Danny MacIntosh and Paul McFatridge get back in the goals.”
