Glasgow Island will be pleased with an excellent win and three points this weekend as they put three goals past top of the table. Glasgow Islands will hope their win sparks a run of games. St Davids remain top of the table and will know that they are still the team to beat and the front runners. I spoke to St David’s assistant manager, Jamie Wilson and he has said, “While we worked hard in the first half we didn’t capitalise when the chances came our way and we really didn’t put them under enough pressure throughout the game. We were all very disappointed with our second half display, particularly the goals we conceded, but got to give credit to Glasgow Islands who deserved the three points.” •Gryffe Thistle 1-2 Singer CFC Excellent win away from home for Singer Community this weekend, away at Gryffe Thistle. The visitors will be pleased with the start they have made to 2018, an excellent win, sitting in 4th place, they will be hoping to make a dash and push for top spot. Singer Community man of the match, Andy Alison picked up a man of the match award, as he put in a fantastic display from midfield, and ensured his club came away with all three points. Singer community have said, “The last time these 2 met a 2 -2 draw was the outcome , a very hard and narrow pitch made things difficult for both sides. Singer dod strike first as good pressing allowed singer to have a throw in which wasnt cleared propperly and Declan Harvey reacted quickly yet again 2 score gor the 2nd game running. More pressure from singer and a good physical look to its midfield with Andy Allison breaking up play well and winning majority of headers alongside mccutcheon and Jordan Gilchrist who picked up the pieces to keep attacks coming. And Gilchrist made it 2-0 with a terrific flowing counter attack as Gryffe carved at chance out with a good interception from David Black played down the right side with good interlinking play from Ross Hutchison Jamie Grimley and Gilchrist slotting it home Gryffe did force a late goal wen a near post flick from a set play squirmed its way in but Singer remained solid and took all 3 points Motm Andy Alison his type of game with a good destructive performance in midfield” •Muirton 3-1 Hampden An important game for both clubs this Saturday, two clubs ended 2017 around the relegation zone, but a fantastic win today for Muirton saw them push clearer of the relegation battle. The Cambuslang United goal was scored by Millsopp and S Allen. The away side, UCS’ goal scorers were D Scanlon and A O’Donnell. Both clubs will be hungry to get back on the park. I managed to speak to Cambuslang United and they have said, Scorers - Scott Chalmers Raymey Reid X 2 Sean Carr X 2 Ryan McKechnie Daniel Harkin Craig Millsopp MOTM - Craig Millsopp A poor first half from Camby seen us go in 3-2 at the break, second half much better, conceded a penalty early on to make it 3-3 but scored two quick goals shortly after which put us in control. A tough one for FC Innter, they will hpoe to bounce back to winning ways, when they get back on the park. Lokomotiv Glasgow are poised to make a run for top spot, currently sitting third in the table, they are going to be a side to watch, as they start 2018 in a very bright and positve light. I managed to speak to Lokomotiv Glasgow and they have said, 'Pleased to pick up the 3 points however we were far below the standards set last week against Gryffe. Credit to Innter who particularly in the first half were very good but I expect more from my guys and they know they can perform a lot better. Two fantastic clubs in a very good spirit game, proving why this is a very competitive league, and they are both ready for a huge 2018. The Royal Union scorers were M Durrant and R Cairney. Lomond Vale goal scorers were, J McGilvary, D Bennett and K Montague. Fantastic game, between two sides to look out for in the coming weeks. I spoke to Royal Union manager Derek Johnston, and he has said, “It was always going to be a battle based on previous games I have been involved in against Lomond Vale and the game had many highlights even though both sides struggled to bring much quality in the football played. No excuses from ourselves though we failed to execute our own game plan and conceded three soft goals. Luckily we have a busy week ahead in which we can react, starting with Monday at training! I am proud of my lads, we are a side formed eight months ago yet find ourselves involved in the pack in our division. Plenty of work to be done but that’s the reality of working on what’s an exciting project!” •Meadow Athletic 1-3 Glasgow East A win for the visitors, the away side Glasgow East, as they beat Meadow Athletic on the road.
